Hoffman setting
records for USD swimming
Elizabeth Hoffman, a freshman on The University of South Dakota women’s swimming and diving team, is off to a record-breaking start so far in her Coyote career.
Hoffman (Fr., Eureka) has set a new school record (in yards) in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:06.36 at the Border Battle in Stevens Point, WI, last weekend. The previous record was 5:08.16.
Hoffman also has posted a new school record (in meters) in the 400 IM. Hoffman set the new mark of 2:25.54 at the Coyotes’ meet against Wisconsin-Green Bay on Nov. 8. Hoffman’s time broke a record of 2:25.90 set by former Coyote standout Leita Rolfe (Newcastle, WY) in 2007. Hoffman’s time also set a new USD pool record.
The Coyote women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams resume action on Friday, Nov. 21 when they play host to St. Cloud State. The meet begins at 6 p.m. at the DakotaDome pool in Vermillion.
