Vermillion's volleyball team improved its record to 8-5 through Monday of this week, capturing a pair of wins in Bon Homme's tournament at Tyndall over the weekend.
The Tanagers defeated Andes Central, 2-0, and Beresford, 2-1, and lost to Viborg, 2-0, in pool play of the Bon Homme meet. The Andes and Viborg teams advanced out of the pool into semifinal matches.
Vermillion then had to go west again Monday night to take on the top-rated Wagner team and sustained a 3-0 defeat there.
In the Andes Central victory by game scores of 25-20 and 25-22, Jenny Bye had five kills and 10 digs, Sierra allen five kills and nine digs, Lexi Regnerus four kills, Molly LeCates nine assists and two service aces and Elise Hughes-Berheim 10 digs.
Against Beresford the Tanagers won the first game, 25-21; lost the second, 25-17, and won the deciding game, 25-17. Michelle Blythe registered nine kills, Jenny Bye 18 digs, LeCates 16 assists and Lizzy Bye five kills and 13 digs. Ashley Ouellette contributed four kills while Allen recorded eight digs, three service aces and four kills.
Viborg took the measure of VHs by scores of 25-23 and 25-17. Allen was credited with seven kills and seven digs, Lizzy Bye four kills and eight digs, Jenny Bye two service aces and 16 digs and LeCates eight assists.
Wagner swept the Tanagers in Monday's dual by game scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-18.
The Tanager varsity will be in action Saturday at the Sioux Falls Area Classic tournament hosted by Tea Area High School.
