A new era of women’s volleyball is set to begin this fall at the University of South Dakota.
After six years at the helm of the Coyotes’ program, Matt Houk left to take an assistant role at the University of Minnesota.
A 97-85 record was the standard Houk set for his predecessor and it’s one Leanne Williamson is looking forward to following up on.
Williamson, a five-year assistant with Houk, was named the new leader of the program in April and on Saturday, she will officially begin her on-court tenure with the squad when the USD women hit the floor at 10 a.m. for the first of two practices that day. The ladies will practice later in the evening at 7 p.m.
“I am very excited for our girls to get back and to get back in the gym with them,” Williamson said. “I definitely learned a lot from Matt. He gave me a ton of responsibility while I was an assistant coach.”
