The University of South Dakota men's and women's track and field teams won 14 titles at the USD Open/Qu-alifier held on Sunday afternoon in Yankton. At the meet, USD recorded five provisional marks for the NCAA Division II outdoor nationals.
Freshman Amber Hegge (Fr., Crofton, NE) was a double winner in the field events to lead the USD women's team which had eight individual or relay crowns. Hegge had a season-best of 38'00.75 in winning the triple jump as she met the provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Division II nationals. She won the long jump at 17'08.25.
Jasmine Mosley (So., Bellevue, NE) captured the women's shot put title with a throw of 46'06.75 as she met the provisional mark for nationals. Mosley also finished fourth (134'0) in the discus and third (158'08) in the hammer. Danielle Dor-nbusch (So., Papillion, NE) was fourth (154'10) in the hammer throw and fifth (39'07) in the shot put.
USD's Rosalie Brueske (So., Woonsocket) picked up a title in the women's 400-meter dash with a clocking of :57.69 while Jenessa Filler (Jr., Crooks) won the women's 100-meter dash in :12.52.
Senior Stephanie Gebhart (Sr., Elkton) won the women's 200-meter dash with a provisional qualifying mark of :24.75. The Coyotes took the top five spots in the race as Shaneka Parkes (Jr., St. Ann, Minard Hill, Jam-aica) was second (:24.98); Filler, third (:24.99); Brues-ke, fourth (:25.87); and Crys-tal Schiernbeck (Fr., Ida Grove, IA), fifth (26.48).
Emma Erickson (Fr., Gayville) captured a title in the women's 1,500-meter run as she recorded a time of 4:33.74 to meet the provisional mark to nationals. In addition, the women's team won the 4x100-meter relay in :47.71, which was also a provisional mark for the outdoor nationals.
Stacy Gould (Sr., Sioux Falls) was second (96'01) in the javelin throw. Tia Haines (So., White Lake) took second in both the long jump (17'00.50) and triple jump (37'05.75). Katie Cerling (Sr., Plymouth, MN) was second in the high jump (5'05) and third in the women's pole vault (11'03). Haley Peterson (Fr., Norfolk, NE) was second (11'03) in the pole vault.
Six Coyote men's team members won titles at the meet. Ben Walters (Jr., Lennox) was a double winner for the Coyotes as he captured both the discus (153'07) and shot put (50'08.75) titles. Walters also finished second in the hammer throw (182'01).
Jeff Sebern (Fr., Brookings) led a 1-2-3 finish by the Coyotes in the men's high jump. Sebern had a winning jump of 6'04. Dusty Nowotny (Rapid City) was second (6'02) while Beau Hoodjer (So., Lincoln, NE) took third (6'0).
Jared Clement (Fr., LeMars, IA) won the men's 100-meter dash in 10:89 while Tyler Williamson (So., Estelline) captured the men's 400-meter dash title in :49.86.
USD's Rob Gregoire (So., Wakonda), Matt Yaggie (Sr., Mission Hill), and Josh Blue (Sr., Council Bluffs, IA) finished 1-2-3 in the men's 3,000-meter run. Gregoire finished first (8:51.40) followed by Yaggie (9:05.45) and Blue (9:22.77).
Junior Dylan Grau (Sioux City, IA) was the top collegiate finisher in the men's javelin throw as he finished second with a toss of 189'07.
In the 400-meter dash, Ben Oberle (Jr., Vermillion). was second (:50.47).
Josh Jeffery (Sr., Spe-arfish) finished second in the men's 800-meter run with a season-best clocking of 1:52.66 as he just missed the provisional qualifying mark to nationals of 1:52.60. In addition, USD assistant coach Sam Pribyl, competing unattached, won the pole vault title by going 17'00.75.
Next for the Coyotes will be the North Central Conference Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday in Sioux Falls.
