5/13/18 5:35 AM A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch north of Vermillion on University Road. There was no damage to the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DWI.

5/14/18 11:34 AM A deputy investigated a report of an unknown vehicle driving into a rural farm place and then leaving. The caller was suspicious and captured photos of the vehicle. There was no apparent crime committed.

5/14/18 3:21 PM After being held for an involuntary mental health committal, a patient was released from the Human Services Center in Yankton and a deputy transported her back to her residence in Vermillion.

5/15/18 2:46 PM The School Resource Officer investigated a report of a student assaulting a teacher. The case was forwarded to the State's Attorney for consideration of charges.

5/15/18 9:19 PM A deputy investigated a car/deer collision on Highway 19 south of Vermillion.

5/16/18 4:46 PM A deputy responded to a report of a large amount of mud on highway 19 causing a traffic hazard after a tractor brought it out of a farm field. The Department of Transportation was notified and responded to clear the road. The farmer who had left the mud on the highway also responded on his own to attempt to remove the mud himself.

5/16/18 5:07 PM A deputy assisted a driver of a vehicle which had become disabled due to a flat tire on Highway 19. Once the tire was changed, the vehicle was able to continue on.

5/16/18 8:15 PM A deputy assisted the Yankton County Sheriff's Office with an attempt to locate a person who had made suicidal comments online and she was believed to be in Clay County. After investigation, it was determined that the woman was in Yankton County.

5/17/18 8:20 AM The School Resource Officer investigated a report of a student sending threatening messages online to another student.

5/17/18 2:29 PM An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.

5/17/18 3:25 PM A deputy received a report of a sex crime that occurred in rural Clay County several months prior to the report. The matter is under investigation.

5/17/18 4:23 PM A deputy assisted a Highway Patrol Trooper with a traffic stop that resulted in a search of the vehicle.

5/17/18 8:30 PM A deputy assisted Vermillion Police Officers with an investigation of a death at a Vermillion residence.

5/18/18 1:59 PM A deputy responded to a report of an intrusion alarm in Wakonda. It was determined to be a false alarm.

5/18/18 3:44 PM An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.

5/18/18 4:32 PM A deputy responded and assisted a Highway Patrol Trooper with a two vehicle crash on the Highway 50 Bypass near Vermillion.

5/18/18 5:18 PM Deputies investigated a trespassing complaint on property near Highway 19 at the Missouri River bridge.

5/18/18 5:38 PM A deputy investigated a report from a driver who struck a dog on Highway 19 north of Vermillion causing damage to the vehicle. An accident report was completed and a message was left for the owner of the dog.

5/18/18 7:45 PM A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on University Road north of Vermillion. There were no injuries and there was no damage to the vehicle.

5/19/18 12:02 AM A Meckling resident reported a neighbor had loud music and a loud motorcycle. A deputy responded but there was no unreasonable noise at the time of arrival.
