BIG EVENTS!

What are the Best. Thursdays. Ever? Thursdays on the Platz in downtown Vermillion!

Your chance to catch free, live music, affordable food & drinks, and tons of summer fun continues now through August 23rd. Musical acts like 35th & Taylor, Whiskey Rich, and Beard grace the National Music Museum stage each Thursday from 5:30-7:30 pm. Hosted by the Vermillion NEXT Committee and the VCDC. More information can be found at livevermillion.com.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the Clay County Fair in Vermillion! Happening August 9 – 11, the Clay County Fair is full of all the fair attractions you’d expect, as well as some fun new events. Find exhibits, animals, live music, inflatables, tasty fair food – even a salsa competition! Friday night’s main event is the new donkey races, with familiar community faces as jockeys. The always rousing Demolition Derby is slated for Saturday night this year. Find out more by visiting www.claycountyfair.net.

Just 2 ½ months left to visit the National Music Museum before it begins preparations for architectural expansion and renovation!

The NMM’s doors will close to the public on Oct. 7, so the last day to visit for a while will be Saturday, Oct. 6 (which also happens to be USD D-Days end day/parade day). Please help get the word out and encourage others to visit! Sundays through Labor Day are free-admission days for South Dakota residents. The NMM’s hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m. Another good reason to visit: The NMM has just published a cool souvenir book with highlights of their world-class musical instrument collection. For sale in the NMM gift shop.

USDA Rural Development and the Small Business Administration Host Joint Lender Meetings

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) and the Small Business Administration (SBA) are holding joint training sessions for lenders to learn about programs and products available to support business lending in South Dakota.

USDA RD staff will explain the Business & Industry (B & I) and the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) guaranteed programs and how lenders can use them to expand their portfolio, while maintaining the personal contacts through servicing. Lenders will also learn about using Farmer Mac as a secondary market, using lender participation to extend your loan limits, and using these programs to meet your CRA goals.

U.S. Small Business Administration will present on the benefits of using the 7(a) Guaranty Loan. This program will allow for a lender to finance new ventures or assist existing businesses in their community by providing extended terms to help small business owners with their business operations and reducing the lenders’ loan risk.

Please make plans to attend one of the sessions below to get the latest information on these guaranteed loan products:
