Under Governor Noem’s proposal, businesses would qualify for this grant if they are located in:

• South Dakota

• have at least $50,000 in gross revenue in 2019, and

• have had a reduction in business of at least 25% between March and May as a result of COVID-19.

The proposed application period for the program would open on Monday October 12th and close on Friday October 23rd. Grants would be rewarded once all applications are received. Following the initial reward period, a second allocation of funds would be considered if additional funds are still available. Paranormal South Dakota – Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library

South Dakota has quite a history! And with that history comes stories of the paranormal: haunted places, alien abductions, mysterious creatures, crop circles, and other things supernatural.

Chad Lewis is a researcher, author, and lecturer on topics of the strange and unusual. He travels the globe in search of unique and bizarre stories and history.

You are invited to get into the spirit of October and learn more about Paranormal South Dakota with Chad via Zoom! Friday, October 2nd at 12:00 pm Central.

For over two decades Chad Lewis has traveled the back roads of the world in search of the strange and unusual. From tracking Vampires in Transylvania and searching for the elusive monster of Loch Ness to trailing the dangerous Tata Duende through remote villages of Belize and searching for ghosts in Ireland's castles, Chad has scoured the earth in search of the paranormal.

Chad has been featured on the Discovery Channel's A Haunting, William Shatner's Weird or What, ABC's World's Scariest Places, Monsters and Mysteries in America, along with being a frequent contributor to Ripley's Believe it or Not Radio. With a Master's Degree in Psychology, Chad has authored over 20 books on the supernatural and extensively lectures on his fascinating findings. The more the bizarre the legend is, the more likely you will find Chad there!

Register at bit.ly/paranormalvpl to access the Zoom session, hosted by the Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library, and lead by Chad Lewis. Please register by October 1st, 2020.

The John A. Day and Gallery 110 art galleries are now open!

"Floating World" is an immersive installation created by the University Art Galleries’ staff and inspired by the University of South Dakota Art Galleries' permanent collection of Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints from the 18th and 19th Century.

The "Floating World" is a space for reflection and pause from our everyday obligations and concerns. Visitors are invited to meander along the boardwalk through the textural landscape environment that encompasses the entire space of the John A. Day Gallery. Gallery 110 features an exhibit of 16 Ukiyo-e “Floating World” prints curated by gallery staff member, Dillon Bryant.

“At Home in the Floating World” features the subject of interior spaces which provide contrast to the landscape and the natural world.
