SUNDAY, AUGUST 23
9:16 a.m. - A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on Timber Road.
8:17 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a trailer becoming detached from its tow vehicle and causing damage to the highway near Wakonda. The driver was cited for no safety chains.
MONDAY, AUGUST 24
12:23 a.m. - A deputy responded to assist Yankton County deputies and the Highway Patrol at the scene of a crash involving a vehicle crashing into a house in Yankton County. The occupants, who were believed to be wanted fugitives, stole another vehicle from the residence and fled. The vehicle and occupants were later located in Yankton County and were arrested after a pursuit.
9:12 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of an Irene resident impeding and harassing construction crews who were working on a city project. The man was no longer in the area and no offenses were observed but he was located and was informed of the concerns and was asked to let the crews complete their work unobstructed.
3:02 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist a Vermillion police officer with a report of an armed man who had threatened suicide. The man was provided with access to mental health resources and the matter was resolved without the need of an involuntary committal.
3:51 p.m. - A deputy received a report of a missing calf north of Vermillion. The calf was thought to have strayed and the owner was hoping someone would see it and report it.
10:50 p.m. - A deputy responded to an Irene residence after a parent called to report her child was disobedient and acting out. The deputy mediated the dispute between mother and daughter and recommended that the parent seek parenting assistance resources.
11:19 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped for erratic driving behavior in Irene. The driver was arrested for DWI and for driving with a revoked driver's license.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 25
2:51 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a hit and run at a Burbank business.
8:59 p.m. - A deputy located a wanted person at a Vermillion residence. The man was arrested and transported to the jail.
9:44 p.m. - A Meckling resident reported hearing gunshots in the area. A deputy responded but no sound of gunshots was heard.
9:57 p.m. - A deputy responded along with fire units after a fire alarm was received from a rural business. No fire was found and the alarm appeared to have malfunctioned.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26
10:43 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment.
2:13 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail.
3:02 p.m. - The School Resource Officer received a report of a suspicious vehicle driving past an elementary school in Vermillion. The vehicle was not located.
6:30 p.m. - Deputies responded to a report of a one car crash with injuries on Greenfield Road north of Highway 50.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 27
6:26 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of stray horses north of Vermillion and assisted their owner with getting them contained.
8:37 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a car striking a dog in a rural road, causing damage to the car. The dog was not located.
1:46 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail.
4:06 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a medical emergency in Vermillion.
5:23 p.m. - A deputy responded to a request to check the welfare of children at a rural residence of their grandmother after their mother had been sentenced to prison. It was learned that the kids were safe and in the custody of their father in another state.
6:36 p.m. - A deputy responded to the jail to assist jail staff with a non-compliant inmate.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 28
2:44 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a fire alarm in Wakonda. It was determined that there was no fire.
4:45 p.m. - A patient was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital for an involuntary mental illness committal.
6:13 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist jail staff with an inmate who was non-compliant and was disrupting the operation of the jail.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 29
12:22 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist jail staff with an inmate acting out and disrupting the jail.
4:24 p.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence to check the welfare of a man after his daughter had reported she was unable to reach him. The deputy located the man who reported he had gone to the store without his phone.
7:28 p.m. - Deputies responded to a report of a burglary at a rural residence near Meckling.
