SUNDAY, MAY 17

3:31 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a man apparently sleeping in a car along Highway 50 west of Vermillion. Upon arrival, the vehicle and driver were not located.

5:49 p.m. - A deputy assisted with traffic control at the scene of a two car crash in Vermillion.

10:36 p.m. - Two patients were transported from the jail to a Sioux Falls hospital for involuntary mental health committals.

MONDAY, MAY 18

9:25 a.m. - A deputy responded to assist a woman with safely gathering her belongings at an acquaintance's residence where she did not feel safe going alone.

4:26 p.m. - A deputy observed a vehicle driving in a dangerous manner, spinning wheels in a "donut" in the parking lot at the Clay County Park boat landing. The driver was cited for the offense,

5:22 p.m. - A wanted person was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

6:01 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of an unattended burn near Volin. Upon arrival, it was found that someone was attending to the fire which was under control.

10:58 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Yankton County Deputy with a vehicle pursuit which had terminated near Gayville. The driver was transported to the hospital due to incapacitation from suspected drug use.

TUESDAY, MAY 19

11:21 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a protection order violation by a man living in Iowa. The protected person lives in Clay County. Charges are under consideration by the State's Attorney.

2:15 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of an attempted break in of a vacant rural residence. No theft was suspected.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 20

9:43 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on Main Street in Irene.

THURSDAY, MAY 21

10:51 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a dental appointment.

2:45 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of alleged elder abuse involving possible inappropriate care of an elderly person in Irene and possible financial crimes committed by relatives. The matter is under investigation.

7:26 p.m. - A deputy mediated a dispute between rural neighbors regarding shooting in an unsafe direction and kids trespassing.

9:04 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Jail to the Yankton County Jail to meet a transport shuttle to begin a prison sentence at the State Women's Prison in Pierre.

FRIDAY, MAY 22

8:36 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of someone tampering with a gravel truck and a boat at a rural residence south of Centerville.

4:45 p.m. - Deputies investigated vandalism to a boat and other property at a vacant rural residence south of Centerville.

SATURDAY, MAY 23

12:50 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a medical emergency in Wakonda.

10:23 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of vandalism to grave markers at a small rural cemetery north of Vermillion.

3:03 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report from an Irene resident that another person had stolen money from her bank account using a cell phone online app. The person who stole the money was arrested and charged with identity theft and petty theft.
