SUNDAY, July 15
1:49 p.m. - After a nursing home resident in Irene walked away from the nursing home, a deputy assisted staff in working to convince the woman to return to the facility.
2:31 p.m. - A deputy responded to a medical emergency at a rural residence.
10:11 p.m. - Deputies responded to a medical emergency in Wakonda and assisted with patient care until the arrival of EMS.
MONDAY, JULY 16
7:16 p.m. - A rural resident reported that cars were parking on the road near another rural residence. A deputy made contact with the property owner who stated the need to park there was brief while unloading a vehicle and that need no longer exists, resolving the problem.
9:40 p.m. -An Irene resident reported some kids were driving a go-kart in the alley and on the street. A deputy responded but did not locate the go-cart.
10:35 p.m. – Deputies assisted Beresford Police with an attempt to locate a caller who had requested assistance at an unknown location in that area.
TUESDAY, JULY 17
9:45 a.m. - A Deputy Investigated A Car Vs Deer Accident on University Road.
10:30 a.m. - A deputy responded to assist fire units at a fire scene near Meckling.
2:02 a.m. - A deputy was given a cell phone that was found in Irene. There was no information on it to help identify the owner and it has not been reported missing.
3:42 p.m. - A caller reported a dog in Wakonda was kenneled in the sun with no food. A deputy responded to the residence and found the kennel was empty.
4:34 p.m. -A caller reported a crop duster flying low and in an unsafe manner south of Vermillion. Information about the incident and the airplanes was gathered and was forwarded to the FAA.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 18
11:58 a.m. -A deputy received a report of a property sale that involved a transfer of money and a trade of an ATV, currently at a Wakonda residence. The sale, including a title transfer, did not go through and the matter is in dispute and will be resolved in civil court. The caller wanted the ATV back. The person with the ATV is contesting the matter in court and was informed that to sell it without a title is illegal. No criminal enforcement action was necessary.
THURSDAY, JULY 19
1:08 p.m. -A caller reported witnessing a passenger in a vehicle throw a fast food bag out the car window. The person who littered was located and instructed to return to the area and clean up the mess. The deputy verified that the litter was picked up.
1:16 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical clinic and then was returned to the jail.
3:19 p.m. - A caller reported concern for a woman camping at Clay County Park. A deputy located the woman and learned that she did not need any assistance.
5:39 p.m. - patient was transported from Vermillion to a hospital in Sioux Falls for an involuntary mental health committal.
8:40 p.m. -A deputy assisted the Highway Patrol with the investigation of a one car, rollover crash with injuries east of Vermillion.
FRIDAY, JULY 20
12:11 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of road rage and dangerous driving behavior involving two vehicles on Highway 50.
6:40 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report from a rural resident of harassing and inappropriate text messages. The sending number was blocked.
9:11 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail.
9:57 a.m. - A caller reported concern for a pedestrian on University Road. A deputy checked the man and found that he was not in need of any assistance.
1:20 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report from a Burbank resident who received numerous scam calls threatening prosecution for not returning the calls. No money or data was lost.
3:47 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of hay causing a traffic hazard on Highway 50 west of Vermillion.
SATURDAY, JULY 21
4:05 p.m. - A deputy investigated an assault of an inmate by another inmate in the jail.
11:28 p.m. - Deputies responded to a report of a missing person in Wakonda. The man was located prior to arrival.
