Vermillion High School drama students are preparing to bring to life a comically twisted rendition of Macbeth titled, Scots on the Rocks by Richard Nathan. This parody, based on William Shakespeare’s classic drama, tells the story of Macbeth, a soldier driven to commit unspeakable crimes in order to gain the throne. His desire for power is spurred on by three witches and a domineering wife. Even though this sounds like serious business, outlandishly foolish characters in a play that makes fun the superstitions that go alone with its production take it into the realm of comedy.

Scots on the Rocks will be presented on May 3rd, 4th, and 5th at the High School’s Thomas H. Craig Center for Performing Arts. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday night, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Tickets will be available at the door. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and admission is free for senior citizens and those with a Vermillion School District activity card.
