CLAY COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT

 

SUNDAY, JUNE 16

3:49 p.m. - A caller reported seeing a pickup pulling a boat with children riding in the boat.  The vehicle was westbound from Vermillion.  A deputy responded to the area and checked the Clay County Park but the vehicle was not located.

MONDAY, JUNE 17

TUESDAY, JUNE 18

10:02 a.m. - A complaint was received of a semi parked facing into traffic and off established truck routes on Park St. in Irene.  The vehicle was ticketed for the offense.

11:03 a.m. - A patient held in the jail for an involuntary committal was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital for an involuntary committal and then an inmate was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

6:59 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a rumor that a young girl had delivered a baby at some point in the past.  It was determined that there was no basis for the rumor and there was no evidence that any crime had occurred.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19

5:52 p.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence and mediated a dispute between a teen aged boy and his parents.

7:47 p.m. - Deputies responded to a rural residence after a report of a dispute between a woman and her estranged husband's new girlfriend.  The matter was de-escalated and parties were separated. No crime had been committed.

THURSDAY, JUNE 20

12:01 p.m. - A juvenile was transported from the Juvenile Detention Center in Sioux Falls to Vermillion for a psychological evaluation and then was transported back to the JDC.

4:32 p.m. - A deputy responded to a Wakonda residence after the resident there reported hearing gunshots in town.  The deputy spoke to others in the area and determined the sounds were more likely fireworks.

5:25 p.m. - A wanted person was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail in Sioux Falls to the Clay County Jail.

6:13 p.m. - A man participating in the 24/7 Sobriety program at the Sheriff's Office was found to have a local warrant for his arrest.  The man was arrested and booked into the jail.

7:11 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle idling outside a closed business near Vermillion. The driver was found in the vehicle sleeping after he had stopped to rest due to becoming fatigued.  No crime had occurred.

FRIDAY, JUNE 21

3:18 p.m. - A wanted person was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

9:36 p.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence to mediate a dispute between a teen aged boy and his parents.

SATURDAY, JUNE 22

7:40 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail after a 24/7 Sobriety Program violation.

3:25 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on 302nd St.

7:54 p.m. - A deputy encountered cattle on the road on Frog Creek Road.  The cattle were moved clear from the road and contact was made with the owners of the cattle to notify them of the issue.
