SUNDAY, MARCH 3
1:58 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a man sleeping on the floor of a bar in Irene. The man was woken up and escorted to his residence.
1:35 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Vermillion Police Officer with an accident investigation where one vehicle struck another but continued out of Vermillion before stopping.
8:13 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle in the wrong lane of travel on Highway 50 near Meckling. By the time of arrival, the vehicle was in Yankton County and was stopped by a Yankton County Deputy and the problem was corrected.
MONDAY, MARCH 4
7:46 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a residential burglar alarm at a rural residence. A resident was found at home and it was determined he had forgotten to deactivate the alarm when company had come to the residence.
9:41 a.m. - A deputy mediated a dispute involving a vehicle left on private property. The property owner wanted the vehicle removed. Contact was made with the vehicle owner who agreed to remove the vehicle.
1:35 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment.
8:57 p.m. - A deputy transported an inmate to the Emergency Room due to a medical condition needing care.
TUESDAY, MARCH 5
7:19 a.m. - While patrolling Irene, a deputy was approached by a state highway employee who reported a parked vehicle which was parked so that it would impede snow removal. Contact was made with the owner who agreed to jump start the vehicle so it could be moved.
7:31 a.m. - A deputy assisted with contacting a vehicle owner to get a vehicle moved from the street in Irene to allow for snow removal.
9:24 a.m. - A patient was transported from the hospital in Vermillion to a Sioux Falls hospital for an involuntary mental health committal.
9:24 a.m. - A deputy encountered a disabled semi on Highway 50. It was learned the truck was having fuel supply problems. The driver contacted his employee and assistance was provided. Reflectors were placed to prevent a traffic hazard.
12:24 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a hit and run involving a vehicle striking a parked vehicle in Irene and then leaving the scene.
1:35 p.m. - Deputies investigated a report of fraudulent checks and counterfeit currency being passed at the City Bar in Irene.
5:32 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a residence in Burbank with a door left open. There was no one home but there did not appear to have been any unlawful entry.
7:20 p.m. - A deputy stopped to assist a vehicle stuck in the ditch on Highway 46 in Irene. The driver had assistance and was eventually able to get the vehicle removed.
8:00 p.m. - An inmate who had violated probation was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6
11:43 a.m. - A deputy assisted with an effort to locate a truant child at her home in Vermillion. The girl was not located. Her probation officer was notified.
2:12 p.m. - A caller requested a deputy's assistance after becoming stuck in the snow in a rural driveway. The deputy responded and found the driver was in need of a tow. A tow service was requested.
3:01 p.m. - A deputy responded to a home burglar alarm at a rural residence. There was no intrusion or problem at the residence.
3:29 p.m. - After being released from an involuntary mental health committal, a man was transported by a deputy from a Sioux Falls hospital to his home in Vermillion.
8:41 p.m. - A deputy assisted the Watertown Police Department in an attempt to locate a person involved in a crime there. The man was not located in Clay County.
THURSDAY, MARCH 7
FRIDAY, MARCH 8
12:24 p.m. - A deputy stopped to assist a driver of a vehicle having mechanical issues on Highway 19 north of Vermillion.
12:40 p.m. - Deputies responded to a non-injury accident on Highway 19 south of Vermillion. The driver was transported away by ambulance due to a medical concern which happened before the accident and which caused the vehicle to leave the road.
3:39 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a medical incident in Meckling and assisted with patient care and transport.
4:18 p.m. - A wanted person was transported from the Charles Mix County Jail to the Clay County Jail.
4:36 p.m. - A deputy mediated a dispute over removing personal property from rental property at a rural residence.
10:12 p.m. - A deputy responded to a non-injury crash involving two vehicles on Highway 46.
SATURDAY, MARCH 9
2:16 a.m. - A deputy assisted a Vermillion police officer with a hit and run investigation involving a person later arrested for DWI by a Highway Patrol Trooper. The deputy then assisted jail staff with the arrestee who was non-compliant in the jail.
6:43 p.m. - Two patients were transported from the hospital in Vermillion to a hospital in Sioux Falls for involuntary mental illness committals.
