MARCH 3, 2019 – March 9, 2019

SUNDAY, MARCH 3

12:47 a.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for doing 39 mph in a 25 mph zone. The driver was cited.

2:43 a.m. - Vermillion Officers assisted University Police with a drug case.

2:03 p.m. - A local business requested assistance with a highly intoxicated man who had trouble standing. The officer found the man had fallen and hit is face on the ground and did not appear able to care for himself. The ambulance was called.

MONDAY, MARCH 4

10:08 p.m. - Caller reported a suspicious man looking into her vehicle, which was parked at a local business. Officers contacted the man who was a sex offender who had failed to maintain his required offender registration status. The man was arrested.

TUESDAY, MARCH 5

9:27 p.m. - An officer cited a vehicle that had been parked in excess of 24 hours in the same roadside location. The officer arranged for the vehicle to be moved.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6

11:39 a.m. - Complainant reported a man had come to his door claiming to be with the U.S Census Bureau and asking questions. An officer contacted the man who did have identification showing he was with the U.S. Census Bureau.

4:10 p.m. - A Vermillion Police Officer assisted Court Services with arresting a woman who was in violation of her court conditions.

8:44 p.m. - Officers responded to a report of a juvenile threatening their guardian with a knife. Investigation lead to the juvenile being taken into custody and transported to Sioux Falls.

11:32 p.m. - A Vermillion Officer assisted in the Jail with the booking of a disruptive inmate.

THURSDAY, MARCH 7

7:54 a.m. - Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence. Officer found the parties had been arguing loudly. Neither party reported a crime had occurred.

1:54 p.m. - Caller reported an domestic argument was escalating. Officer investigated and found no crime had occurred and mediated a cessation of the argument.

2:17 p.m. - Officers provided a civil standby for a custody exchange.

4:00 p.m. - A local business reported a fraudulent check had been returned from the bank. Under investigation.

6:52 p.m. - Complainant reported unknown person(s) had entered her residence and taken several items. Under investigation.

FRIDAY, MARCH 8

7:18 a.m. - Caller reported a suspicious looking man not wearing shoes running down the road. Officers checked the area but did not locate the man.

SATURDAY, MARCH 9

1:02 a.m. - Officers responded to a two vehicle non-injury accident. One of the drivers was cited for Unsafe Backing.

6:25 p.m. - Complainant reported a hit and run accident. Under investigation.

6:58 p.m. - Officers were called to a restaurant for a woman who had passed out. The woman was intoxicated and asked to leave, but refused. The woman was arrested for trespassing.

10:56 p.m. - A Vermillion Officer assisted in the Jail with an unruly inmate.
