SUNDAY, MARCH 24
11:04 a.m. - A deputy mediated a dispute regarding recovery of personal possessions from a Wakonda residence. Instructions were given for the man who needed his property to arrange a suitable time with the property owner.
11:04 a.m. - A deputy responded to a car/deer crash on Highway 50.
6:09 p.m. - A deputy mediated a dispute between a teen aged girl and her non-custodial father over retrieving personal possessions from his home.
6:32 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a dispute at a rural residence. The matter involved a teen aged boy in a dispute with his parents.
MONDAY, MARCH 25
12:27 a.m. - A deputy responded along with Union County and Highway Patrol units as well as fire units to a large fire northeast of Vermillion. It was found to be a large pile of hay bales burning.
2:36 a.m. - A deputy assisted a driver of a semi that had a flat tire on Highway 50.
12:24 p.m. - A deputy received a report of a truant high school student. Efforts were made to locate the student but he was not found.
1:50 p.m. - A deputy mediated a dispute over the return of personal property in Irene. The property was left on private property without permission. The person who left the property was directed to return and collect the items to correct the misunderstanding and avoid a criminal charge.
2:12 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Highway Patrol Trooper and a Turner County Deputy with attempting to locate a person in Irene who was involved in an investigation of an offense that occurred in Turner County. The suspect was not located. Turner County Charges are under consideration.
4:45 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of vandalism in Wakonda after a report was received of tires slashed on a vehicle parked at a Wakonda residence.
TUESDAY, MARCH 26
12:13 p.m. - A wanted person was transported from the Davison County Jail in Mitchell to the Clay County Jail.
3:25 p.m. - A rural resident reported he was missing some items from his home and suspected there had been a burglary.
4:37 p.m. - Deputies responded to a medical call from a rural residence. Care was provided until the patient could be transported by ambulance.
5:32 p.m. - A patient was transported from the hospital in Vermillion to a Sioux Falls Hospital for an involuntary mental health committal.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27
2:35 p.m. - A deputy observed a small fire at a rural residence. It appeared the fire was spreading. Contact was made with the property owner to inform them of the issue and fire units were summoned to put the fire out.
3:04 p.m. - A deputy responded to provide traffic control for a semi that was disabled on the Highway 50 Bypass due to mechanical issues.
3:28 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report from a Meckling resident who suspected someone had shot a robin near his home. The matter was turned over to the Department of Game, Fish, and Parks for follow up investigation.
THURSDAY, MARCH 28
5:48 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls to the Clay County Jail to be held for a court appearance.
11:26 a.m. - After attending a court appearance, an inmate was returned to the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
9:07 p.m. - A deputy responded to a 911 call received from a rural residence. There was no emergency or need of assistance and the matter was determined to be a phone line malfunction due to water.
FRIDAY, MARCH 29
12:41 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of an alarm at an Irene business. An employee had left the building unlocked. The customers, who tripped the alarm when entering, were present and waiting for the deputy after the alarm sounded. There was no crime committed and the building was secured.
9:16 a.m. - A deputy and a Highway Patrol Trooper responded to a report of a tractor/trailer circumventing a road closure barrier on a rural gravel road. The driver encountered a washed out culvert which was the reason the road was closed. The driver attempted to back up and became stuck. The driver was cited for the offense of circumventing the traffic control device.
8:47 p.m. - A deputy mediated a dispute over the removal of personal possessions from a Wakonda residence while one person was moving out.
SATURDAY, MARCH 30
7:11 a.m. - Deputies investigated reports of a vehicle being stolen from a Meckling residence and another from a residence near Meckling. A separate vehicle was recovered abandoned near the scene of one theft and a fourth vehicle was found abandoned near Gayville in Yankton County.
2:17 p.m. - Deputies assisted jail staff with a non-compliant inmate causing a disturbance in the jail.
3:08 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Highway Patrol Trooper with an investigation of a crash with injuries that was reported after the driver left the scene and went home and was transported to the hospital in Yankton by a private vehicle.
