Native Voices Lecture Discussion Series

An interactive exhibition that examines concepts of health and medicine among contemporary American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians and features interviews with more than one hundred tribal leaders, healers, physicians, educators, and others.

First Gear Steampunk Pirate Festival

The Vermillion Area Arts Council is pleased to announce their first annual Steampunk Pirate Festival entitled First Gear. Their goal is to foster community through historic science fiction and theatrical piracy. First Gear will be an afternoon to evening event on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at the Washington Street Art Center. The event will begin with family and kid-friendly activities. While thematic vendors peddle their wares, there will be games, art making, costume contests, and steampunk and pirate performers will engage the audience with stage shows. Proceeds will support the Vermillion area Arts Council.

Saturday, September 14th from 2:00pm to 8:00pm at the Washington Street Arts Center, 202 Washington St. in Vermillion. Tickets will be available for purchase. Visit www.vaac.online/steampunk-pirate-festival.html for more information regarding the event.

Vermillion Health Fundraiser

Please join us for live music, a silent auction, guest speakers, appetizers and drinks at the first annual Vermillion Health Fundraiser on Thursday, September 19th from 6pm to 9pm. It will be taking place at Old Lumber Company. Entry into the event will be $5 or FREE with a nonperishable food donation to the Vermillion Food Pantry.

Vermillion Community Connection Center 5K

Why a 5K? This beautiful community space deserves a big Vermillion welcome and celebration filled with community spirit, family-friendly activities, and, of course, a little walk/run! Let’s #runthistown! The CCC 5K Run/Walk will begin on Main Street and end back at the CCC. We've designed this course to be spectator-friendly and a few on-course cheer stations and entertainment along the way! Participants can pick up their race packets at the CCC located at 9 Court Street during the following times:

Friday, September 20th between 4 p.m. & 7 p.m.

Saturday, September 21st between 8 a.m. & 8:45 a.m.

Participants can also come and enjoy a tour of the CCC. The race will begin at 9 a.m. on Main Street and end back in front of the CCC. Children under 10 can participate for free. Please note they will not receive a Bib or T-shirt.

Fall into Golf

Free lessons on the range at The Bluffs golf course in Vermillion. Drop by any Wednesday night in September from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Come out to the range and let PGA professional Rusty Jensen and assistants Dennis Chandler and Grant Campbell help you with your swing and your game! For beginners. If you don’t have clubs, don’t worry! The course will have a limited number of clubs available. All ages are welcome – if under 14, must be accompanied by an adult.

1. Helpsheets – Quick, information documents covering topics ranging from bed bugs to how to help a loved one in a mental health crisis. We are continuing to produce more of these on requested topics!

2. Connections Calendars – Listing events such as school supply giveaways, job fairs and more. Also, there is a calendar devoted to listing professional training opportunities across the state.
