3:21 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a vehicle stolen from a rural residence near Volin. The vehicle was later located abandoned in Burbank.

5:21 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a vehicle found abandoned in Burbank. The vehicle was determined to have been stolen from an address in Yankton.

5:49 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a vehicle stolen from a Burbank residence.

6:36 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a vehicle stolen from a Burbank residence. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Knox County, Nebraska.

11:03 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a medical emergency in Meckling and assisted with patient care until the patient could be transported by ambulance.

10:32 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a suicide attempt at a rural residence. The patient was transported to the hospital by family while the deputy and EMS were on their way to the residence so the deputy met with the patient at the hospital.

MONDAY, APRIL 1

5:46 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a driver calling 911 after his vehicle became stuck on a rural minimum maintenance road. A tow service was summoned to pull the vehicle out.

8:59 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a suspected theft of money from a rural resident by a house guest. The matter is under investigation.

6:34 p.m. - A patient was transported from the hospital in Vermillion to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.

9:48 p.m. - Deputies responded to a dispute between a teen-aged juvenile and his parents. The matter was de-escalated and no further assistance was needed.

TUESDAY, APRIL 2

2:16 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.

7:00 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist the Vermillion Police Department with a response to a dispute in Vermillion. One person had left the residence and the deputy located him near Burbank. Once the investigation was complete, there was no need for the man to be detained but he was cited for a traffic violation.

8:03 p.m. - An inmate was transported to the Yankton County Jail to meet a prisoner transport shuttle to the Women’s' Penitentiary in Pierre to begin a prison sentence.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3

3:12 a.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence to locate a suspect of an assault that was reported in Vermillion. The man was located there and was arrested for the offense.

10:09 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of suspected tampering with a gas pump in Irene. There was no apparent installation of a skimming device or other deliberate tampering found.

10:50 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of an irate Wakonda resident creating a disturbance in the City's office. The resident was contacted and was asked to use the proper procedures for addressing a grievance.

4:57 p.m. - A deputy received a report from a rural resident who encountered two men in a vehicle who had caused him to be suspicious due to recent vehicle thefts. Identifying information was gathered for future reference if necessary.

THURSDAY, APRIL 4

4:05 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

5:27 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a vehicle passing a stopped school bus on Highway 50 west of Vermillion.

8:25 p.m. - A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on the Highway 50 Bypass near Vermillion.

FRIDAY, APRIL 5

8:03 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of stray cattle northeast of Vermillion. Assistance was provided for traffic control while the cattle owner put them back into their enclosure.

3:06 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Highway Patrol Trooper with locating the driver of a vehicle that was found abandoned in the driving lane of Highway 50 east of Vermillion. The woman was located in Vermillion arranging to have the vehicle towed.

6:52 p.m. - A caller reported vehicles driving on a closed rural road. A deputy responded and found that the road was in poor condition but was not closed. The vehicles were no longer in the area. It appeared that one may have been stuck there.

7:34 p.m. - A deputy responded along with fire units to a report of a fire alarm at the school in Irene. The issue was a false alarm. No fire was found.

SATURDAY, APRIL 6

5:59 a.m. - A deputy assisted a driver of a vehicle experiencing mechanical issues on Highway 50 east of Vermillion.

1:06 p.m. - A caller reported that kids on dirt bikes were making noise in Meckling. A deputy responded and found that the kids were on private property. The property owner was informed of the noise complaint.

5:25 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a suspicious person and a stuck vehicle on a rural road north of Vermillion. The vehicle and driver were gone upon arrival but a nearby resident was located who had spoken with him and reported the man had not committed any crime. No action was taken.

7:16 p.m. - A deputy responded along with fire units to a report of a grass fire that had gotten out of control east of Vermillion.
