SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3

2:55 p.m. - A deputy responded to a driving complaint involving a speeding vehicle in Yankton County on Highway 46. The vehicle was located parked and unoccupied in Irene.

3:37 p.m. - A deputy received a report from a man who said he lost a ladder from his vehicle between Vermillion and Yankton. No one had reported finding the ladder but it had apparently been picked up.

6:46 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a car/deer crash on Highway 50 near Vermillion.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4

7:29 a.m. - A deputy responded to a car/deer crash on Highway 19 north of Vermillion.

3:43 p.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence to investigate a report of a hit and run causing damage to a vehicle. It was determined that the incident took place at a business in Union County. The information was forwarded to the Union County Sheriff's Office.

6:53 p.m. - A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on 321st St near Burbank.

9:49 p.m. - A deputy responded to investigate a death at a rural residence. The death was determined to be due to natural causes.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5

11:13 a.m. - The School Resource Officer responded to a residence near Vermillion and escorted a truant student to school.

12:42 p.m. - The School Resource Officer received a report from a student of online messages that were causing the student concern due to it being private information.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6

9:49 a.m. - The School Resource Officer responded to two separate Irene residences to wake up truant students and escort them to school.

11:30 a.m. - Deputies responded to the jail when a person being held for protective custody complained that he couldn't breathe. The man was transported to the hospital where he received medical clearance before he received a mental health evaluation.

3:19 p.m. - A patient was transported to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7

11:41 a.m. - A Wakonda resident reported fraudulent charges on a bank card. A new card was issued to stop the fraudulent charges.

3:30 p.m. - The School Resource Officer investigated a report of students vaping in the high school. Three students received discipline based on school policy.

3:31 p.m. - The School Resource Officer assisted school administration with an angry and disrespectful student. The matter was de-escalated without further incident using school disciplinary policy.

4:12 p.m. - Deputies responded along with fire units to a structure fire at a rural residence.

4:54 p.m. - A deputy picked up a person in Vermillion due to a mental illness protective custody hold. The patient was transported to the emergency room for a medical clearance and then was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital for an involuntary mental health committal.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8

5:52 p.m. - A deputy observed stray cattle east of Vermillion. The owner was notified and he responded to catch the stray animals.

5:52 p.m. - Deputies responded to a report of stray livestock on East Main St near Vermillion. Assistance was provided to the property owner to catch the animals.

6:51 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of damaged sign posts north of Meckling. No accident had been reported in that area.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9

8:29 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a car/deer crash on Greenfield Road.

6:32 p.m. - A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on Greenfield Road.

8:18 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist a Vermillion police officer with a traffic stop resulting in a DWI arrest

10:14 p.m. - A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on Highway 46.

11:30 p.m. - A deputy responded to mediate a family dispute at an Irene residence.
