Conceptual Plan

This drawing shows one of the concepts for the development of the 50 acres of land recently purchased by the City of Vermillion. In this design, the upper right is reserved for commercial activity. A majority of the right side of the property will be developed into park grounds and recreational fields. Housing units of various sizes to meet the City’s future needs are also represented in this design. The empty portion of property located on the right may be the future site of the new Clay County Jail and joint law enforcement center.

The Vermillion City Council was introduced to several conceptual plans at its Monday, Nov. 7 noon meeting – with an emphasis on the word conceptual – for the 50.16 acres the City recently purchased this fall for $1.1 million.

The property is bounded on the east by Stanford Street, on the north by South Dakota Highway 50, on the west by the Over Drive housing development, and on the south by Baylor Street. It is bordered on the west, south and east sides by property that is already within city limits.
