Vermillion residents and businesses who have been affected by the closure of Independence Waste may bring their empty Independence Waste trash cans (up to 96 gallons) to the Vermillion Landfill and drop them off free of charge, according to a press release issued by the City of Vermillion Wednesday morning.

If the Independence Waste cans are not empty there will be a minimum charge of $12.54 (tax included) to dispose of the trash, and then the cans can be deposited at the landfill. The City is recommending residents contact other licensed garbage haulers in the area. Those licensed haulers are:

Loren Fischer Disposal (Vermillion) 605-624-9304

Fischer’s Disposal LLC (Vermillion) 605-624-8090

Vermillion Garbage Service (Vermillion) 605-624-5460

Waste Connections (Norfolk) 1-800-871-5566

Waste Management of Sioux City (Sioux City) 712-252-1929

Please note: Not all haulers may do residential hauling
