The Board of Directors of the Vermillion Community Theater announces the third annual "Vermillion's Got Talent" event. The 2019 and 2020 events were held in the winter but the board decided to hold the event on July 10, 2021 in Prentis Park to allow social distancing. In previous years, there has been one $500 cash prize. This year that prize will be for talent over age 18. Deb Proefrock, an agent with Farm Bureau Financial, will sponsor a second $500 prize for young talent under age 18. There will also be a People's Choice award so the audience is encouraged to attend, bring their phones, and vote.

This event is open to the public. Free will donations will be accepted. Audience members will be expected to follow the Covid-19 guidelines in place at that time and to bring their own blankets or chairs. Applications will be accepted from June 11 to June 25. The application committee will then have a week to review the applications and the best 25 acts will be chosen and notified by July 2. This will give talent time to polish their acts. Acts will be judged on the ability to entertain. If an act is chosen to perform, a $25 fee will need to be submitted prior to taking the stage. The rain date will be July 17. Application forms and information on the audition process are located on the VCT website: vermillioncommunitytheatre.org

The board of directors plans to return to a traditional schedule in 2022. The royalties for "The Sound of Music" have been extended for performances July 16-18, 2022. The Children's Theater Workshop will return in June of 2022.
