Taking The Oath

Alderpersons Steve Ward and Katherine Price watch as Finance Officer Katie Redden administers the oath of office Tuesday night to Mayor Kelsey Collier-Wise. She was elected overwhelmingly in June 8's municipal election in a five-person race and will serve a one-year term to finish up the term of Mayor Jack Powell, who died in April 2020. Collier-Wise, who had represented the Central Ward on the city council for eight years, resigned from that office in April 2020 after she was appointed by fellow council members as Vermillion's mayor following Powell's death.
