A flock of Snow Geese migrating north decided to layover in a cornfield Monday afternoon below Blisse Pointe on the western edge of Vermillion. According to allboutbirds.org, Snow Geese migrate in long flights broken up by long stopovers in staging areas. Some fly from central Mexico to the northern reaches of Canada during their flights north each spring. They fly quickly and at high altitudes in narrow flight lanes. Some Snow Geese that winter in western North America breed in Siberia, and some that winter along the Atlantic coast breed in Greenland.
