The City of Vermillion offers season passes to Prentis Plunge for $50 for all ages 7 years and up. Pool admission for individuals 6 years old and younger is free with a paid adult (15 years old and over). Daily admission to the pool is $6; this fee is good for the entire day. Prentis Plunge also has three reduced admission days each week; they are a $1 swim every Thursday starting at 5 p.m., a $1 swim for college students every Friday evening, and a $1 swim for seniors every Saturday.
Throughout the summer there are typically four free swim day “events” offered to the public. These free swim days are sponsored by local business or offered on a public holiday.
The Vermillion City Council approves Prentis Plunge rates annually and works hard to balance a fee to operate and staff Prentis Plunge yet keep it affordable for all. The pool, on average, is open 100 days per season, at $50 per season pass, that is only $.50 per day.
For families or individuals that are dealing with economic challenges, the City of Vermillion also works closely with the local Department of Social Services to offer reduced swim passes. DSS recognizes four different income-based programs as a guide to determine eligibility. The four different programs are the most common and are available for the lowest income households.
The amount of season pass discount is based on the number of programs for which an individual qualifies. A 20% discount for individuals who qualify for one program, 40% discount for those who qualify for two programs, and 75% discount for those who qualify for three or more programs. Individuals must work with DSS to receive the discounted passes; this assures all the financial/personal information is kept confidential.
