As I write this (and I’ll be brief, giving readers something to be thankful about during these hot summer days – ha!) I’ve just returned from the groundbreaking ceremony for Vermillion’s new elementary school. Construction of the new building will likely get started sometime next month.

During the brief ceremony held Wednesday noon, I couldn’t help but think of the publication compiled by Fern Kaufman and Donna Gross entitled “The Last Of The Clay County Schools 1999-2015."
