SUNDAY, FEB. 7

2:40 a.m. - A deputy located a vehicle which was reported stolen in Yankton. The person who had been driving the vehicle and was suspected in the theft was located and arrested.

MONDAY, FEB. 8

11:08 a.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical clinic and then was returned to the jail.

3:28 p.m. - A deputy responded to a request to check the welfare of an elderly rural resident that the caller was unable to reach. The man was found to not need assistance and it was determined that the caller had been using the wrong phone number.

4:24 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a dental appointment and then was returned to the jail.

6:33 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report that an inmate in the jail was attempting to contact his victim through a third party. Additional criminal charges for this offense will be considered.

TUESDAY, FEB. 9

2:20 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a dental appointment.

3:10 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Human Services Center in Yankton back to the Clay County Jail after inpatient treatment.

5:02 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of dogs causing problems at two neighboring rural residences. Contact was made with a person responsible for the dogs and he had already caught them and returned them home at a third neighboring property.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 10

12:55 p.m. - A caller reported striking and injuring a bald eagle on Timber Road. The caller was hopeful that the eagle could be saved if it was still alive and was concerned someone might illegally pick up the eagle if it dies. A deputy responded and found that someone had stopped and picked up the eagle. The matter was forwarded to Game, Fish, & Parks for investigation.

12:57 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of vandalism to a vehicle in Irene when the owner found that someone had cut off his tire valve stems.

3:36 p.m. - A deputy investigated a theft of items including two Jet Skis from a rural residence.

8:54 p.m. - A deputy responded to an Irene residence after a report of a dispute and assault regarding a mother and her teen aged son. Charges are pending.

THURSDAY, FEB. 11

10:16 a.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on Main Street in Irene.

2:48 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.

3:00 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report referred from DSS of an allegation that a Wakonda parent was allowing a juvenile boy to have inappropriate contact with a juvenile girl. Investigation continues into the matter.

8:09 p.m. - A deputy responded to the jail when an inmate began acting out violently and damaging jail property. The inmate was moved to another cell. Additional charges are pending against the inmate.

8:40 p.m. - A deputy assisted Vermillion police officers in response to a report of a firearm discharged in a Vermillion apartment. The matter was found to be an accident and no one was injured.

8:46 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Turner County deputy with an uncooperative arrestee being brought into the Clay County Jail.

FRIDAY, FEB. 12

12:12 p.m. - A deputy investigated a domestic assault that occurred in Wakonda and continued to Yankton. The offender was arrested in Yankton and charges are pending in both counties.

2:46 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment.

8:20 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a deer that had been struck on the Highway 50 Bypass. The deputy found that the vehicle involved had left the scene. The deer was removed from the highway.

8:49 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Highway Patrol trooper at the scene of a traffic stop resulting in an arrest for drug possession.

SATURDAY, FEB. 13

2:15 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a gas cap stolen from a vehicle in Irene.

2:36 p.m. - A deputy investigated a burglary at a rural residence near Wakonda.

6:01 p.m. - A deputy responded to a family dispute in Irene when a juvenile boy was acting out in defiance to his mother and was assaulting her. The boy was transported to a juvenile facility in Sioux Falls.

6:53 p.m. - A caller reported a horse on a rural property was not receiving proper care and had hay but no water. Deputies found that the horse had hay, water, and shelter but was not standing in that area when the caller saw the horse.
