Sunday, December 26

1:23 a.m. - An officer initiated a traffic stop after witnessing a traffic violation. Officers traffic investigation found the driver to be unlicensed and was accompanied by persons under the age of 21 who had been consuming alcohol. Citations were issued and the subjects were released. Alcohol was a factor. Charges are pending.

7:19 p.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration. The officer's investigation found the driver to be a suspended driver with no proof of insurance. The vehicle was impounded and a citation was issued. Charges are pending.

10:16 p.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for running a stop light. The vehicle registration was expired and the driver did not have proof of insurance. The driver was cited.

Monday, December 27

12:44 a.m. - Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence. Officers determined that no crime was committed.

10:25 a.m. - Officers responded to a hit and run with property damage. Officers discovered a fire hydrant had been damaged by a vehicle. The vehicle and driver were located and issued a citation. Charges are pending.

4:11 p.m. - Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate any persons in the area or criminal activity.

5:48 p.m. - A wallet was found and turned into the Public Safety Center. An officer returned the wallet to it's rightful owner. The owner of the wallet was thankful for the returned wallet.

9:51 p.m. - Officer's investigated a suspicious incident outside a local business that was closed. No criminal activity was detected and no arrests were made.

9:52 p.m. - Officers intervened in a dispute between persons incident. The incident was resolved peacefully between both parties. No charges were filed and no arrests were made.

Tuesday, December 28

11:20 a.m. - Officers received information of suspicious activity. The case is under investigation.

Wednesday, December 29

3:44 a.m. - Officers took a report of graffiti and vandalism to property. There is no suspect information at this time.

3:34 p.m. - Officers received a report of a sex crime. Under investigation.

3:45 p.m. - Officers investigated a report of possible fraud. Under investigation.

Thursday, December 30

2:23 a.m. - Officers investigated a report of a theft at local business and the subject involved may have been armed with a gun. No injuries were reported and Vermilion PD detectives continue to investigate.

2:50 a.m. - Officers responded to a report of domestic disturbance at a residence. Officers interviewed the involved parties and no arrests were made. Alcohol was a factor.

4:43 p.m. - Officers responded to a residence to assist a subject reporting cardiac issues. Officers assisted until the ambulance arrived and took over care.

Friday, December 31

6:54 p.m. - Caller reported a male attempting to break into his apartment. The male was threatening to harm the caller after he broke in. Officers arrested one adult male for trespassing and making threatening statements. Officers searched for a second adult involved and additional charges are pending. Alcohol was a factor.

Saturday, January 1

12:06 a.m. - Officers responded to a rollover accident just outside the city. Both drivers were transported to the hospital. Investigation resulted in the driver of one of the vehicles being charged with DWI.

3:27 p.m. - Officers responded to assist an elderly man who had fallen, was not injured, and needed help getting up. Officers assisted the man to his chair. No further action.
