SUNDAY, JUNE 30

1:17 a.m. - A deputy responded to the jail when an inmate complained he could not breath.  Oxygen was provided until the inmate's inhaler was obtained for him.

9:43 a.m. - A caller reported a tree was causing a traffic hazard on University Road.  A nearby property owner removed the tree with his tractor and cleared the obstruction.

4:40 p.m. - A patient was transported from the jail to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.

MONDAY, JULY 1

7:48 a.m. - A deputy observed a vehicle left parked on Greenfield Road near Highway 50.  Numerous efforts were made to contact the owner to have the vehicle removed.  The vehicle was eventually towed to clear the road.

1:13 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Jail to the state prison in Sioux Falls to begin his prison sentence.  Another inmate was taken to the Minnehaha County Jail.  Then, 2 inmates were picked up at the Minnehaha County Jail and transported to the Clay County Jail.

9:03 p.m. - A caller reported concern about a man walking on University Road and trying to flag down a ride.  A deputy responded and found that the man was no longer in the area.

10:26 p.m. - A deputy patrolling Irene observed a backhoe with flashers left on.  The cab was locked and they appeared to have been mistakenly left on.  The owner was notified.

TUESDAY, JULY 2

1:11 a.m. - A deputy responded to a medical emergency at a rural residence after a report of a possible accidental drug overdose.  The patient was transported to the hospital.

10:19 a.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical appointment.

11:11 a.m. - A deputy patrolling Irene was notified of a semi driving on Highway 46 with flat tires.  The vehicle was located and stopped so the driver could be informed of the problem.

1:48 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.

2:52 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a back windshield of a vehicle being broken in Irene.

3:10 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report from a Wakonda resident that a neighbor's dogs were out in the heat all day.  The deputy found that the dogs were in good health and the owner reported the dogs had only been out a short time.

5:03 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of children left unattended in Wakonda.  The information was forwarded to the Department of Social Services for review.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 3

2:11 p.m. - A caller reported an impaired driver acting in a strange manner on a rural gravel road.  A deputy responded but the vehicle had left the area.  The vehicle was later located in Vermillion and the driver was arrested for DWI by the Vermillion PD.

11:54 p.m.  - A deputy investigated a report of underage people trespassing on rural property.  The group was gone but was located elsewhere.  They were told they were trespassing and not to return to the area.

THURSDAY, JULY 4

1:37 p.m. - Two wallets were turned in to the Sheriff's Office after they had been found at the Clay County Park.

FRIDAY, JULY 5

4:16 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of items stolen from an Irene residence.  One missing item was a .22 pistol which had recently been turned in to the Sheriff's Office after being found nearby.

4:43 p.m. - A deputy received a report of a missing swimming pool pump in Irene.  It was believed the pump may have been stolen.

6:57 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist at the scene of a medical emergency in Vermillion.

9:10 p.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence near Vermillion to mediate a dispute between a teen aged boy and his parents.

SATURDAY, JULY 6

3:45 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a domestic dispute that resulted in property damage when a man flattened his girlfriend's tires.  The man was arrested for causing the damage.

2:33 p.m. - After an inmate was transported to the emergency room after apparently having a seizure, a deputy remained with the inmate until he was medically cleared to return to the jail.

6:21 p.m. - A deputy responded along with fire units to a grass fire along Highway 46.

7:26 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped for speeding on Main St. in Irene.  It was discovered that the driver was driving with a suspended license.  The driver was cited for the offense.

10:04 p.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence near Vermillion to mediate a dispute between a teen aged boy and his parents.
