SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22
12:16 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on North Princeton St at a dead end. A vehicle was located occupied by 3 adults smoking marijuana. Two ran from the scene but one returned to the vehicle. Two were arrested for drug possession and charges are pending against the third.
12:40 a.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence after receiving a report that a juvenile had sent texts indicating suicidal intent. Upon arrival, the juvenile and his parents were contacted. The juvenile apologized for sending the messages and said he was not suicidal. His parents were with him and had him under their supervision. No hold was placed.
9:28 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle near a rural residence. The vehicle was no longer in the area when the deputy arrived.
11:48 p.m. - A deputy encountered a haphazardly parked, occupied vehicle in Irene. The driver was found asleep in the driver's seat. The driver was arrested for DWI and having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle.
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
12:08 p.m. - A deputy investigated concerns of improper care of an adult by a family member. Investigation continues into the matter.
12:22 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a sexual assault in Irene. It was determined that the incident happened in another jurisdiction and the people involved were referred to the appropriate agency.
2:08 p.m. - A deputy received reports of a person in Irene expressing suicidal thoughts. The person was a resident of another Turner County city and the matter was forwarded to the Turner County Sheriff for assistance.
6:18 p.m. - An inmate was transported to the Yankton County Jail to meet a prisoner transport shuttle.
9:34 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a medical emergency at a rural residence and assisted with patient care until the arrival of EMS.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
19 7:19 a.m. - A Burbank resident reported seeing a suspicious vehicle occupied by a woman and a dog parked near her residence. The caller thought the woman might be living in the vehicle. A deputy responded but the vehicle was no longer in the area.
8:32 a.m. - A deputy was informed of a wanted person at the Middle School in Vermillion. The person was arrested and transported to the Clay County Jail.
10:11 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a theft of a vehicle from a rural residence. It was suspected that the vehicle had not been returned after being borrowed. The deputy located the vehicle in Vermillion and found it had not been stolen. The person in possession of it returned it to the owner to avoid charges.
12:01 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a habitually truant student in Irene. The case was forwarded to the State's Attorney for consideration of charges against the parent for failure to send the child to school.
12:24 p.m. - The school resource officer investigated a report of a truant child in Irene.
2:31 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of drugs and drug paraphernalia being found in a highway ditch by a highway worker.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25
2:37 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.
9:23 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped for speeding on Highway 19, north of Vermillion. The vehicle was uninsured and the driver had a suspended driver's license. The driver was cited for the violations and the vehicle was towed due to the lack of insurance and no licensed driver.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
9:58 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of an abandoned 911 call from a rural residence. Upon arrival, no emergency was found. A man was using a skid loader in the area and felt he may have struck a phone line causing the call.
1:34 p.m. - The school resource officer investigated a report of a student in possession nicotine vape items. The student was cited for possession of tobacco products.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
8:25 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a dispute between two grown brothers in Irene. Upon arrival, the deputy learned the dispute was verbal and no crime had been committed. The two people involved had separated and there was no need of any further action.
10:46 a.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.
1:10 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment.
3:09 p.m. - The School Resource Officer investigated a report of an altercation involving students at the high school. The matter was resolved using school disciplinary policy.
6:09 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist a Highway Patrol Trooper with an investigation of a non-injury accident on a rural road.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28
12:15 a.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on Main Street in Irene.
8:29 a.m. - A deputy and Highway Patrol troopers responded along with EMS to a report of an intoxicated and bloody man walking along the highway south of Wakonda. The man made statements that he had jumped from a car but also reported he had been beaten up. The man was on parole and a detainer was issued but he was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
2:53 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist a Highway Patrol Trooper with an investigation of a report of a suspicious vehicle south of Vermillion with a driver who appeared confused or intoxicated. The driver was not impaired and was allowed to leave.
7:39 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped in Irene for unsafe backing. The driver did not have a valid license and was cited for the offense.
8:18 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on 306th St near Greenfield Road.
9:37 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on the Highway 50 Bypass in Vermillion.
