1:29 a.m. - A rural resident called to report that someone was farming near his home and keeping him awake. A deputy explained that farmers occasionally work all hours during planting and harvest but responded to the area to find that no one was farming nearby at that time.

8:47 p.m. - A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on Highway 46 near Irene.

10:00 p.m. - A deputy stopped a vehicle in Irene and notified the driver of an inoperable headlight.


5:08 p.m. - A deputy responded to investigate an altercation between two residents of a nursing home in Irene.

9:09 p.m. - A deputy responded along with EMS to a medical emergency at a Burbank residence.


1:45 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in Meckling. The deputy found that the vehicle and occupant were a utility company working.

8:40 a.m. - A deputy responded to Irene to assist a Court Services Officer with an effort to locate a truant high school student on probation.

9:22 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment.

10:46 a.m. - An inmate was transported to a dentist appointment and then was returned to the jail.

1:30 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a theft of a vehicle from a rural residence. The victim reported the vehicle was stolen in January but was unsure if it was a theft or another matter and waited to report it. The vehicle was entered as stolen in a national database.

4:57 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report that a tenant who was evicted from an apartment in Wakonda deliberately damaged the apartment before leaving.


11:01 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of child abuse. It was determined that the incident likely happened in Vermillion and the information was passed along to a Vermillion Police Detective for further investigation.

11:38 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of vandalism to a car parked in Irene.

1:54 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a dental appointment.

4:29 p.m. - Deputies assisted the Vermillion Police in an effort to locate a man who was reported to have crashed on a bicycle south of Vermillion and run away. The bicycle was determined to have been stolen. The man was located and transported by EMS due to injuries from the bicycle accident.

8:01 p.m. - A deputy responded to Interstate 29 to assist a Vermillion Ambulance crew with a combative patient they were transporting to Sioux Falls.


1:03 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Union County Jail to a dental clinic in Vermillion. After the appointment, the inmate was transported back to the Union County Jail.

1:42 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a protection order violation in Irene.


1:20 a.m. - A deputy attempted to locate a suicidal man in a vehicle in the Burbank area. The man was located in Union County by a Union County deputy.

7:37 a.m. - A deputy assisted the Vermillion PD with a response to an injury crash in Vermillion.

9:40 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment.

7:50 p.m. - A caller reported someone stole catalytic converters from the back of his pickup after he had removed them from his own vehicles.

8:55 p.m. - A caller reported smoke in the area of the Clay County Park. Deputies attempted to locate the fire and determined it was in Nebraska. The Dixon County Sheriff was informed.

10:36 p.m. - A caller reported an ATV speeding and causing noise on Princeton St north of Vermillion. A deputy responded but no ATV was in operation in that area at that time.


1:36 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on Main Street in Irene.

1:37 p.m. - A deputy mediated a dispute between neighbors in Meckling.
