3:07 p.m. - A deputy stopped to check the welfare of occupants of a vehicle stopped on Highway 50 near Highway 19. The driver was in need of directions but did not need other assistance.

Monday, November 29

8:21 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report that someone had cut wires in an attempt to steal the wiring from a field irrigation unit and from a rural residence in northern Clay County. The wiring was not taken.

12:36 p.m. - A deputy assisted an agency in another state with an investigation of a sex offense that was reported to have been committed there and the offender is now in Clay County.

1:48 p.m. - The School Resource Officer responded to the high school in Vermillion to resolve a matter of a disorderly student disrupting school.

2:16 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Union County Jail to a medical appointment in Vermillion. The inmate was then returned to the Union County Jail.

8:54 p.m. - A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on University Road near Vermillion.

9:17 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of an assault at a rural residence.

Tuesday, November 30

10:18 a.m. - A deputy assisted in a death investigation at a Vermillion residence. The death was determined to have been due to natural causes.

1:55 p.m. - A deputy responded along with Highway Patrol to a report of a rollover crash on a rural road. The driver had left the scene.

4:30 p.m. - Two inmates were transported from the Clay County Jail to the Union County Jail.

Wednesday, December 1

1:31 a.m. - A deputy responded along with EMS to a medical emergency at a rural residence.

5:02 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist a driver of a vehicle which had stalled on the Highway 50 Bypass. A tow service was requested.

7:06 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a medical emergency at a Vermillion residence.

Thursday, December 2

10:47 a.m. - A deputy responded to assist Vermillion police officers in an effort to locate a suspect of a domestic assault after he had fled from the scene.

11:25 a.m. - The School Resource Officer investigated an allegation of illegal drug use and distribution in the high school in Vermillion.

2:15 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle and people who had been parked on a rural road. The people had left drug paraphernalia items behind.

4:05 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Clay County Jail to be held at the Union County Jail.

8:34 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Highway Patrol Trooper with a traffic stop involving vehicle occupants who were argumentative.

Friday, December 3

12:19 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report from a Meckling resident who said that someone called her to say she had been scammed and asked her to send them money to help trap the scammers. In fact, the caller was scamming the woman and tricked her into sending a large sum of money in cash. The money is unrecoverable.

2:18 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of an assault at a rural residence. The matter was found to be a person in a mental health episode. The person was transported voluntarily to a mental health facility.

Saturday, December 4

12:28 a.m. - A deputy responded to assist staff at the nursing home in Irene with a patient being transferred to the hospital by ambulance.

6:11 p.m. - A wanted person was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

8:40 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist jail staff with removing a combative and disorderly inmate from the inmate transport van upon its arrival at the jail.
