Sunday, April 24

2:00 a.m. - An officer conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. The driver was arrested for driving while impaired.

5:04 a.m. - Parents brought their child to the department as they suspected underage drinking. The child had consumed alcohol and was referred to the justice system.

10:33 a.m. - Vermillion PD detectives investigated a report of a violation of a court order. Charges are pending.

3:06 p.m. - Officers responded to a welfare check, concerning the sound of a screaming child for several minutes. Upon arrival, the officers met with the child and their parent, and learned the child was having a tantrum about having their nose wiped. The child was not in danger.

7:42 p.m. - Vermillion PD officers investigated a report of identity theft. Caller reported that someone had taken out home loans in her name.

8:15 p.m. - An officer responded to a laundromat for a dryer fire. A bystander had gotten the fire out with a fire extinguisher just prior to officer arrival, and the Vermillion Fire Department took over the scene shortly thereafter.

8:54 p.m. - Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence. No arrests were made.

8:57 p.m. - An officer responded to a verbal dispute.

Monday, April 25

11:04 a.m. - Officers responded to a report of a dispute between a renter and his landlord. The dispute revolved around management removing property from the caller's yard and it was determined the dispute was a civil matter.

12:43 p.m. - Officers assisted a neighboring agency with an on going investigation involving Vermillion residents.

Tuesday, April 26

7:19 p.m. - A caller reported a possible intoxicated driver. Officers located the vehicle and driver. The investigation led to arrest for driving while impaired.

Wednesday, April 27

9:49 a.m. - Officer was called to investigate report of burglary, theft and trespassing. An unknown suspect had reportedly entered a vacant residence and removed items from the home. Incident remains under investigation.

6:01 p.m. - An officer was called to assist the Fire Department with investigating an issue of open burning. It was determined no violations had occurred.

7:32 p.m. - Officers conducted undercover alcohol compliance checks on 5 businesses. One failed the others passed. The failing clerk was cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Thursday, April 28

3:45 a.m. - A caller reported a disorderly male who would not leave a residence. On arrival, officers located the individual. Further investigation led to charges and the male being taken into custody. Alcohol was determined to be a factor.

12:34 p.m. - A mental health worker requested a welfare check on a subject known to officers. Officers discovered the subject had left the community, but were able to establish phone contact. The subject said they were fine and refused to provide any information about where they were living.

4:08 p.m. - An officer investigated report of a small child panhandling at a local business. The officer located the child and learned they were attempting to raise money for a sick pet.

Friday, April 29

11:08 a.m. - An officer received report of important documents blowing down the street. The documents were located and collected and later returned to the rightful owner.

Saturday, April 30

1:29 a.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for exhibition driving and failure to have any headlights or taillights on. The driver was arrested for driving while impaired.

11:25 p.m. - Officers were dispatched to a report of a man kicking at a vehicle and trying to fight people behind a bar. The man was arrested for intentional damage to property due to vehicle damage caused.
