SUNDAY, JULY 19

11:39 a.m. - A caller reported an attempt by someone threatening to release embarrassing photos online unless payment is received. The caller reported he had not shared any actual photos, and this was believed to simply be a scam attempt.

4:55 p.m. - Deputies mediated an ongoing dispute between Wakonda teenagers who were reportedly threatening to beat each other up. The kids were advised to avoid contact with each other.

9:06 p.m. - A 911 call was received from an Irene residence. A deputy was close by and stopped to check on the caller who reported she had accidentally pressed the emergency button on her phone.

MONDAY, JULY 20

10:36 a.m. - A deputy received a report of a farm irrigator spraying water over the road on 302nd St. Contact was made with the owner of the property who agreed to go and adjust the sprayer.

11:14 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.

1:35 p.m. - A deputy responded to a medical emergency at a rural residence near Wakonda.

2:14 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a 911 phone call from a rural residence. The deputy found the property owner mowing and thought he had somehow accidentally dialed the phone in his pocket.

6:19 p.m. - A deputy mediated a verbal dispute at a rural residence while one person was moving out of the home.

7:02 p.m. - A deputy received a complaint from an Irene resident who had concerns about construction workers in the area not being safe. The concerns were passed along to the construction supervisor.

TUESDAY, JULY 21

9:11 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

2:30 p.m. - A deputy received a report from a Wakonda property owner who had observed possible drug paraphernalia in rental property.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 22

5:43 a.m. - A deputy completed a crash investigation report after receiving a report of a vehicle striking debris on Highway 50 west of Vermillion, causing minor damage to the vehicle.

9:19 a.m. - A caller reported a farm irrigation unit spraying water over Highway 19 north of Vermillion. Contact was made with the owner to make arrangements to adjust the sprayer.

9:24 a.m. - A deputy received a report of a vehicle in Irene having what appeared to be wet cement splashed on it while parked in Irene.

9:59 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail in Sioux falls to the Clay County Jail.

10:41 a.m. - A caller reported an irrigation unit was spraying water over a rural gravel road. A deputy contacted the property owner who agreed to go adjust the sprayer.

11:16 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a domestic assault at an Irene residence. One person was arrested for domestic violence.

4:47 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

7:51 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of gunshots near Meckling. The deputy found people who had been shooting lawfully on their own property near Meckling.

THURSDAY, JULY 23

1:43 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of someone attempting to break into a vehicle parked in Irene.

2:08 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of vandalism after graffiti was found on private property in Irene.

6:12 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a family dispute at an Irene residence. No crime was committed, and the people involved had separated prior to the deputy's arrival so the dispute had calmed down.

FRIDAY, JULY 24

12:08 p.m. - A caller reported her neighbor's dog was out in the heat in Wakonda and she was concerned about it. A deputy responded and saw that the dog was not in distress and appeared to be comfortable with the temperature.

9:10 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped, and the driver was cited for speeding on 302nd St.

SATURDAY, JULY 25

7:05 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of tools and equipment stolen from a work site south of Vermillion.

12:53 p.m. - A deputy responded to the jail to assist with an inmate having trouble breathing after attempting to swallow contraband to avoid its detection by jail staff. The inmate was transported to the emergency room for medical care.

6:47 p.m. - Deputies responded to a report of an assault in Irene. One man was arrested for simple assault and for interfering with emergency communications by preventing the victim from calling for assistance.
