SUNDAY, APRIL 21

12:20 a.m. - Deputies responded to a report of a dispute at an Irene residence where one person was removing personal items from another person's residence. The resident was arrested for assault.

10:08 a.m. - A deputy encountered a vehicle in the ditch near Wakonda. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and he reported his son had been driving the vehicle. Contact was made with the owner's son who was found to be uninjured. An accident report was completed.

10:58 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a suicidal person at a rural residence. The man had left and was located in Vermillion and was detained for protective custody. Criminal weapons possession charges are under consideration.

MONDAY, APRIL 22

1:04 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report from a renter of a pasture who felt that the landlord had deliberately shut off power to an electric fence. It was learned that a breaker had tripped and the power had not been intentionally shut off.

1:47 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.

2:51 p.m. - A man was transported from the Clay County Jail to a hospital in Sioux Falls for an involuntary mental health committal.

8:46 p.m. - A deputy responded to a car/deer crash on Highway 19 north of Vermillion.

TUESDAY, APRIL 23

12:34 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail after being picked up for a probation violation.

1:32 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a missing ATV from a rural farm near Vermillion The vehicle was later located, stuck in the mud on the owner's property.

1:57 p.m. - A deputy assisted the Yankton Police Department with an attempt to locate a suicidal man who was suspected to be in Clay County. The man was eventually located in Sioux City, IA.

2:15 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Yankton business by locating an Irene resident who had left her car there for repairs and they were unable to locate her.

2:49 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of an erratic driver north of Vermillion on University Road. The vehicle was not located.

9:48 p.m. - A deputy assisted Vermillion Police Officers in locating a man making threatening statements about the use of a firearm. The man was located and taken into protective custody pending a mental health evaluation.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24

8:35 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the State Penitentiary in Springfield to the Clay County Jail to attend a court appearance.

3:17 p.m. - A deputy responded to report of a medical incident in Meckling.

4:35 p.m. - An inmate was returned to the State Penitentiary in Springfield after he had been brought to Clay County to attend a court appearance.

7:16 p.m. - A man was transported from the Jail to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.

8:17 p.m. - A deputy assisted the Vermillion Police Department in locating a suicidal man in Vermillion. The man was located and detained for protective custody.

THURSDAY, APRIL 25

6:07 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls to the Clay County Jail to be held for a court appearance.

1:30 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls after being brought to a court appearance in Clay County.

5:05 p.m. - A patient was transported to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.

5:40 p.m. - A deputy responded along with fire units to a report of an intentionally set fire near Wakonda. The fire violated the current burn ban ordinance. The property owner who set the fire was cited for violating the burn ban.

7:57 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a property owner assaulting a fireman who was responding to a fire on his property near Wakonda. Criminal charges are under consideration by the State's Attorney's Office.

FRIDAY, APRIL 26

12:00 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a 911 call from a rural residence where the line remained open. The deputy found the caller who was not in need of any assistance and had accidentally dialed 911.

6:25 p.m. - A wanted person was located when he came to the Sheriff's Office to update his sex offender registry. The man was arrested and was booked into the jail.

SATURDAY, APRIL 27

6:56 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a single car, non-injury accident on Highway 19 near Centerville.

10:28 a.m. - A deputy responded to Irene after a report was received of 2 missing children from an Irene residence. The children were located safe in a neighbor's home.

3:40 p.m. - A deputy mediated a dispute at an Irene residence where the resident was concerned about another person who needed to pick up personal items there and move them out. The matter was resolved peacefully.

4:57 p.m. - A patient was transported from the hospital in Vermillion to a Sioux Falls hospital for an involuntary mental health committal.

7:33 p.m. - A deputy assisted Vermillion police officers with a response to a report of people trespassing in a vacant residence in Vermillion.
