SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8

10:37 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a burglary alarm at a Wakonda business. There was no evidence of forced entry or other crime. It was determined that the alarm was likely due to the weather conditions.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9

7:32 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of damage to a neighborhood mailbox on Highway 19 at Deerfield Road.

7:50 a.m. - A caller reported an injured deer in the ditch on Greenfield Road northeast of Vermillion. A deputy responded and the deer was euthanized due to its injuries.

9:30 a.m. - The School Resource Officer investigated a report of two Wakonda students being habitually absent from high school and their mother not making an effort to send them to school.

10:31 a.m. - A caller reported the theft of an ATV that had been parked at a vacant farm site near Burbank.

11:38 a.m. - A caller reported a man had been visiting his elderly mother and behaving suspiciously. The woman and her son wanted to man to stop coming to the residence. A deputy contacted the man and told him he was no longer welcome and was no longer permitted to be on the woman's property.

12:36 p.m. - The School Resource Officer investigated a report of a student vaping at the Vermillion High School. The student was cited for the offense and will be subject to school disciplinary policy. The student's mother was notified.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10

8:04 a.m. - A deputy responded along with EMS to a report of a rural resident who had fallen and needed assistance. The man was COVID positive so appropriate precautions were taken.

11:04 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a protection order violation in Irene.

12:42 p.m. - A deputy encountered a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 50 west of Vermillion. The vehicle had slid in due to weather and road conditions but there was no damage or injuries. The driver had help on the way.

1:57 p.m. - A deputy responded to a weather related, two vehicle accident on Highway 19 west of Vermillion.

2:32 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a dental appointment and then was returned to the jail.

3:53 p.m. - A deputy observed a vehicle slide into the median on Highway 50 east of Vermillion. There were no injuries or damage and the driver was able to call for a tow.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11

8:34 a.m. - The School Resource Officer mediated a dispute between high school students in Vermillion.

10:46 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist Vermillion police Officers with a report of an assault in Vermillion.

11:12 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist Vermillion police officers with a report of a possible domestic dispute at a Vermillion residence.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12

8:35 a.m. - A deputy responded to a car/deer crash on 306th St near Highway 19.

11:18 a.m. - A deputy responded to an Irene residence to attempt to locate a truant student. The student was not located.

6:17 p.m. - A deputy responded to a car/deer crash on Highway 46 near Beresford.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13

8:16 a.m. - Two inmates were transported from the jail to the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls to begin their prison sentences.

10:34 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14

8:00 a.m. - A deputy responded to a car/deer crash on Highway 19 north of Vermillion.

12:08 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Highway Patrol Trooper with a traffic stop that involved an investigation of DUI and drug possession.

7:55 p.m. - A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on Highway 19 north of Vermillion.
