COVID-19 (Coronavirus) VCDC Updates

Based off the latest recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the VCDC regrets to inform you that the following events and programs have been cancelled and/or postponed:

• Wednesday’s 8:00 am – 9:00 am - UpNEXT Coffee Hour cancelled through to May 8th.

• Vermillion NEXT Third Thursday Socials cancelled through March and April.

The CDC’s guidelines recommend the cancellation or postponement of events with more than 50+ people for the next 8 weeks. The VCDC will continue to monitor the situation via the CDC, South Dakota Department of Health and the South Dakota Governor’s Office.

If you have questions or concerns about these event cancellations, please call 605.624.5571 or email

Everyone here at the VCDC is genuinely disappointed at the need to cancel events, but the health and safety of our wonderful Vermillion community is at the forefront of our decision making. During this time of uncertainty, the VCDC will continue to work hard to foster and promote the retail, manufacturing, civic, agricultural and economic interests in our community and surrounding areas.

Remember to limit close contact with people who are sick and wash your hands thoroughly and often.

Coyote Twin Theater

Dear friends,

I’m writing to share with all of you that the Vermillion Cultural Association has made the decision to close the Coyote Twin Theater as of Friday, March 20th, 2020.

The conditions with COVID-19 are such that continuing to operate the movie theater is not in the public’s nor the VCA’s best health interests.

When the show can go on again, it will.

We'll miss seeing you at the movies, but you can find us on our social media to keep updated. As the Coyote Twin Theater is closing indefinitely, all Chick Flick Club and community Monday shows are cancelled. The VCA team is working on ways to continue to provide cultural experiences (and popcorn) to our community in this time of social distancing. Keep an eye out for details regarding Fool's 48 Film Festival and arts appreciation opportunities.

Vermillion is a close-knit community. We’re weird. We love each other here. Let’s keep doing that with arts—and hearts—close to us.

President, Vermillion Cultural Association
