1:15 a.m. - Deputies mediated a dispute between a landlord and a tenant at a rural property.

11:13 p.m. - A deputy checked the welfare of a person in Irene after a friend reported the other person had made statements causing concern for her welfare. The person was found to not need any assistance or intervention.


9:15 a.m. - An inmate being held for Clay County in Pender, Nebraska due to space limitations was transported back to Clay County.

9:46 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Highway Patrol Trooper with a traffic stop resulting in a drug arrest east of Vermillion.


4:49 a.m. - A caller reported a suspicious vehicle leaving an unoccupied rural residence under construction. The caller followed the vehicle until law enforcement could respond. The subjects in the vehicle crashed and abandoned the vehicle which was determined to have been stolen and which contained numerous stolen tools from Sioux Falls. Investigation provided information identifying the people who fled and charges are under consideration in Clay as well as other counties.

2:14 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a dental appointment. He was then transported to the Yankton County Jail to be housed there due to space limitations in the Clay County Jail.

2:27 p.m. - A deputy responded to a Wakonda residence to locate a truant student. The student's mother was notified of her obligation to send the child to school and to contact the school if there was a need for absence.

2:55 p.m. - A caller reported a lock had been cut from an enclosed trailer at a rural residence. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. It was determined that this was related to another similar incident involving stolen property from another county and recovered in Clay County.


8:11 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a Hit & Run involving a vehicle striking a parked car in Irene.

10:14 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near a rural residence where there had been a recent burglary. The vehicle was not located.

7:45 p.m. - A patient was transported from the hospital in Vermillion to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.


7:46 a.m. - An inmate being housed in Yankton County due to space limitations in the Clay County Jail was transported to the Clay County Courthouse for a court appearance and then was returned to the Yankton County Jail.

4:29 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked near a vacant rural residence. The vehicle and occupants were no longer in the area upon arrival.

6:39 p.m. - An inmate was transported to the Yankton County Jail to meet a prisoner transport shuttle for transport to the Women’s Penitentiary in Pierre to begin her prison sentence.


6:10 p.m. - A wanted person was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

7:21 p.m. - A deputy served a court services detainer requesting a urinalysis be conducted on a person on probation. The person tested positive for illegal drugs and was detained in the Clay County Jail.

11:30 p.m. - A deputy responded to an Irene residence after an anonymous caller reported that a man was passed out and not caring for his children. No one was located at the residence.


3:04 a.m. - A caller reported a driver driving east in the westbound lane of Highway 50 near Vermillion. A deputy and Vermillion police officer located and stopped the vehicle. The driver was found to be wanted by the US Marshal. He was arrested and transported to the jail.

6:50 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a burglary and theft of items from a vacant rural residence near Wakonda.

2:54 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report that someone broke into a parked vehicle in Irene.
