Monday, March 20
3:31 p.m. — A patient was transported from the hospital in Vermillion to a Sioux Falls hospital for an involuntary mental health committal.
3:50 p.m. — A deputy responded to investigate a death in Vermillion. The death was determined to have been due to natural causes.
4:34 p.m. — An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail.
7:02 p.m. — A deputy responded along with EMS to a medical emergency at an Irene residence.
8:08 p.m. — A deputy responded to a report of vehicles parked along a rural road. The vehicles were not present upon arrival. No apparent crime had taken place and it was suspected the occupants may have been hunting in the area.
9:10 p.m. — A deputy responded to a report of a fire along Highway 50 near Meckling. There was no fire found in the area.
9:31 p.m. — A deputy investigated a report of a gas drive off from a gas station in Irene.
Tuesday, March 21
7:35 a.m. — Three inmates were transported from the Union County Jail to the Clay County Jail to attend court appearances.
11:41 a.m. — After an inmate reported chest pain, she was transported to the emergency room for evaluation. After an evaluation, the inmate was returned to the jail.
6:21 p.m. — A deputy investigated a report of juvenile possessing and smoking marijuana. Charges are pending.
11:06 p.m. — Multiple units and agencies responded to search for a man with Alzheimer's disease who had walked away from a Wakonda residence. The man was found safe, walking on a rural highway hours later.
Wednesday, March 22
9:26 a.m. — A deputy responded to a Burbank residence to check the welfare of pets after the homeowner had been unable to contact the person caring for the animals and had become concerned. The deputy found that the animals were receiving proper care.
12:31 p.m. — An inmate was transported from the Clay County Jail to be held in the Union County Jail.
5:08 p.m. — A caller reported seeing a man lying in the ditch holding a shotgun. A deputy responded and found that the man was hunting geese there and did not need assistance.
10:34 p.m. — A patient was transported from the hospital in Vermillion to a Sioux Falls hospital for an involuntary mental health committal.
Thursday, March 23
12:39 a.m. — A caller reported he had slid off the road and had become stuck and was low on gas. No tow was available at the time, so the juvenile driver was transported to his home by a deputy.
6:41 a.m. — An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail to attend a court appearance.
6:54 a.m. — Seven inmates were transported from the Union County Jail to the Clay County Jail to attend court.
11:34 a.m. — An inmate was transported to the Yankton County Jail after a Clay County Court appearance.
11:50 a.m. — Five inmates were transported to be held in the Union County Jail after court appearances in Clay County.
12:03 p.m. — An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail.
5:30 p.m. — A deputy investigated a report of a minor, non-injury, motor vehicle accident at an Irene business.
Friday, March 24
12:37 p.m. — The school resource officer investigated a report of juvenile girls caught using a vaping device in a high school bathroom. One student was cited for possession of the device, and all were subject to school disciplinary policy.
4:31 p.m. — A deputy investigated a report of a rifle that had been found on the ground near the Gun Club at Clay County Park.
8:45 p.m. — An inmate was transported from the Union County Jail to the hospital in Vermillion for x-rays after a reported injury to his ankle. The inmate was then transported to the Clay County Jail.
Saturday, March 25
6:02 a.m. — An inmate was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail.
9:33 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped, and the driver was cited for speeding on Main Street in Irene.
