7:46 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report from a woman who said she was receiving messages from an unknown person she had connected with on Snapchat.
Monday, October 17
4:36 p.m. - A wanted person was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County jail.
4:42 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a found cash box and drawer along a rural road. The items were likely involved in a crime in another jurisdiction. No information was available regarding the location of any associated crime.
Tuesday, October 18
6:02 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a stop sign being knocked over by a vehicle north of Vermillion. The County Highway Department repaired the damaged sign.
6:36 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a stolen child’s minibike from a residence in Irene.
8:12 a.m. - The School Resource Officer responded to a Vermillion residence to resolve an issue with a truant child refusing to go to school.
9:03 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of 10 missing red angus heifers from a rural pasture.
4:02 p.m. - A deputy responded along with Highway Patrol and fire units to a report of a car fire on Highway 50 west of Vermillion.
6:02 p.m. - A deputy responded to a two vehicle crash with injuries on Highway 50 east of Vermillion.
Wednesday, October 19
8:39 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail to attend court. After court, the inmate was returned to Yankton County.
11:11 a.m. - A deputy responded to a complaint from a Wakonda resident regarding her neighbor’s dog being loose. The dog was not located.
11:36 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report from an Irene resident who had been receiving a high number of calls from a blocked number with no one responding when spoken to. The caller was not identified.
5:09 p.m. - A patient was transported from the hospital in Vermillion to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.
5:47 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of cows in the road near Wakonda. No cows were found and it was determined that the cows had likely found their way back into their pasture.
7:25 p.m. - A deputy encountered a vehicle which had just struck a deer. An accident report was completed and a tow truck was called to remove the vehicle due to the extent of the damage.
Thursday, October 20
11:54 a.m. - A deputy stopped a vehicle in Irene after observing it had no plates and knowing that the driver was unlicensed. The driver was cited for the offenses.
4:38 p.m. - Deputies responded to assist fire units with traffic control at the scene of a structure fire in Vermillion.
Friday, October 21
8:11 a.m. - A person being held in jail for protective custody was transported from the jail to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.
8:40 a.m. - A deputy responded to assist a Vermillion police officer at the scene of a report of a suspicious person loitering at a Vermillion apartment complex.
10:50 a.m. - A deputy mediated a property line dispute in Burbank where one person complained of a neighbor picking apples from her tree.
11:03 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle left at the County rodeo arena. The owner was contacted and it was learned there was no need for assistance and the vehicle would be moved in a reasonable time period.
5:43 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a smoke from a fire southeast of Wakonda. The fire was found to be monitored and under control.
9:48 p.m. - Deputies addressed issues with people possessing open alcohol containers and littering in downtown Vermillion.
10:07 p.m. - A deputy addressed an issue with a person standing outside of a downtown Vermillion bar while possessing an open alcohol container.
10:39 p.m. - A deputy addressed an issue with a person urinating in public in downtown Vermillion.
Saturday, October 22
12:14 a.m. - Deputies addressed issues with open alcohol containers in downtown Vermillion.
12:52 a.m. - While deputies were assisting with a Highway Patrol traffic safety checkpoint, a deputy encountered a vehicle driven by an intoxicated driver. After an investigation to confirm, the driver was arrested for DWI and was transported to the jail.
11:15 a.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence to mediate a dispute over assets where a spouse was removing property from a former spouse’s home pursuant to a court order.
12:19 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Clay County Jail to be held in the Yankton County Jail.
8:29 p.m. - Deputies addressed issues with a group of people walking in Vermillion with open alcohol containers.
8:55 p.m. - Deputies assisted the Highway Patrol with a traffic safety checkpoint on Highway 50 west of Vermillion.
11:19 p.m. - While addressing a matter of a person with an open alcohol container in Vermillion, the person was found to be under 21 and in possession of a fraudulent identification he had used to buy the beer. The man was arrested for the offenses.
