6:43 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the Jail to be held in the Brookings County Jail.
12:34 p.m. - A deputy responded to investigate a report of a burglary at a rural residence.
7:02 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a car/deer crash on a rural highway near Wakonda.
9:30 p.m. - A patient in the Nursing home in Irene was transported from there to the Jail to be held until he could receive a mental health evaluation after the Nursing Home reported they were unable to manage him.
9:32 p.m. - A deputy responded along with EMS to a report of a medical emergency at a business in Meckling.
Monday, January 9
6:49 a.m. - A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on Highway 46 near Centerville.
1:39 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Clay County Jail to be held in the Union County Jail.
3:52 p.m. - A person being held in protective custody in the jail was transported to the hospital in Vermillion for medical clearance and then to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.
6:21 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped in Irene and the driver was informed that he had not turned on his headlights.
Tuesday, January 10
7:39 a.m. - Four inmates were transported from the Union County Jail to the Clay County Jail to attend court.
9:37 a.m. - A deputy investigated a sex offender being non-compliant with registration requirement. Criminal charges are under consideration.
11:22 a.m. - Six inmates were transported from the Clay County Jail to be held in the Union County Jail.
2:04 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of ice falling from a vehicle and breaking the windshield of a second vehicle.
5:29 p.m. - A deputy transported a patient from the Nursing Home in Irene to the jail to be held pending a mental health evaluation after the nursing home reported they could not manage him there.
7:05 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a fire alarm at the Landfill. No fire was found, and the matter was determined to have been due to a false alarm.
Wednesday, January 11
5:40 p.m. - A person being held in protective custody was transported from the jail to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.
7:57 p.m. - Two inmates were transported from the Union County Jail to the Clay County Jail.
10:13 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a theft of vehicle rims in Wakonda.
Thursday, January 12
12:45 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a stolen vehicle in Wakonda. It was determined that the matter was a domestic dispute and not a theft. Upon request, the person with the vehicle returned it to the residence and left.
6:47 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail to attend court.
9:19 a.m. - After a Clay County court appearance, an inmate was transported from the Clay County Jail to be held in the Yankton County Jail.
10:05 a.m. - A deputy assisted the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office with locating a person in Irene who was non-compliant on their electronic monitoring program. The man was located and was advised to contact the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office.
2:53 p.m. - A deputy located a wanted person at a Vermillion residence. The man was arrested and was transported to the jail.
3:49 p.m. - Two inmates were transported from the Clay County Jail to be held in the Union County Jail.
4:29 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Union County Jail to the Clay County Jail to attend a court appearance.
8:33 p.m. - A deputy located a wanted person in Vermillion. The man was arrested and was booked into the jail.
Friday, January 13
9:35 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls to begin his prison sentence.
10:40 a.m. - The School Resource Officer worked with a high school student and his father regarding a relationship that resulted in the student rarely coming home. Resources were offered and school counseling staff were alerted. Plans were made for ongoing assistance in the matter.
11:29 a.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence where a parent had found alcohol and drug related items in his son’s room and wanted the matter to be handled within the criminal justice system. The deputy investigated and issued citations for the offenses.
12:41 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a suicidal woman who had left her vehicle on a rural road, walking outside and was becoming very cold. The woman was located and was kept warm until EMS could respond to transport her for medical care.
7:11 p.m.- Four inmates were transported from the Clay County Jail to be held in the Union County Jail.
9:54 p.m. - A deputy responded to a rural residence to assist a man who had fallen outside and needed assistance getting to his feet. The man was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.
Saturday, January 14
2:28 a.m. - A deputy assisted a Vermillion Police officer with a response to a domestic assault at a Vermillion residence. One person was arrested.
1:43 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail in Yankton to a medical clinic in Yankton. After the doctor visit, the inmate was returned to the Yankton County Jail.
6:16 p.m. - A deputy responded along with EMS to the jail where an inmate in booking became unresponsive after a panic attack. The inmate was transported to the emergency room and medically cleared before returning to the jail.
8:21 p.m. - A deputy responded to investigate a report of possible sexual contact between residents of the nursing home in Irene.
