2:16 a.m. - A deputy responded to a medical emergency when a caller reported a woman had given birth at a rural residence. The deputy provided assistance to the mother and child until the arrival of EMS
7:49 a.m. - Deputies transported a fugitive to the Clay County Jail from Redwood Falls, MN.
8:03 a.m. - A caller reported a neighbor's cattle on her property east of Vermillion. The owner of the livestock was notified of the issue.
9:07 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of hunters beginning their hunt prior to the allowed time. It was found that they had not changed their clocks from Daylight Savings Time but had not actually begun to hunt yet.
5:32 p.m. - A caller reported a fire south of Highway 50, west of Vermillion. A deputy checked and found out that a property owner was tending a fire in a burn pit.
MONDAY, NOV. 5
12:36 a.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on Highway 46 in Irene.
5:16 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a medical emergency at a rural residence where a medical alert device had called after the patient had fallen and couldn't get up.
8:15 a.m. - A rural resident reported a scam attempt where the caller was offering a large sum of prize money and a vehicle in exchange for a fee. The son of the intended victim recognized this as a scam and reported the matter and reported that no money has been lost.
6:01 p.m. - A deputy responded to a car/deer crash on Highway 19 north of Vermillion.
11:48 p.m. - A deputy mediated a dispute between a married couple at a rural residence. No crime had been committed.
TUESDAY, NOV. 6

12:10 p.m. - A patient was transported to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.
8:25 p.m. - A deputy assisted with a death scene investigation in Vermillion.
THURSDAY, NOV. 8
7:30 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail to be held for a court appearance.
2:25 p.m. - A patient was transported to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.
3:36 p.m. - After being brought to Clay County for a court appearance, an inmate was returned to the Yankton County Jail.
3:59 p.m. - After being released from an involuntary mental illness committal, a patient was transported from the Human Service Center in Yankton to his residence in Vermillion.
4:17 p.m. - A rural resident called to report finding a pair of binoculars on a rural highway. No one had reported losing the binoculars.
FRIDAY, NOV. 9
8:47 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.
11:58 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a theft of gas from an Irene gas station. There was little information available about the suspect vehicle.
1:06 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment.
2:21 p.m. - A deputy responded along with fire units to a report of a smoke alarm going off at a rural residence. There was no fire found.
SATURDAY, NOV. 10
8:23 a.m. - Deputies traveled to Redwood Falls, MN to transport a wanted person back to the Clay County Jail.
2:32 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a theft of gas from a Wakonda business.
5:49 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of damage at a rural residence caused when a semi apparently used the driveway to turn around and struck trash cans and a pole. The vehicle left the scene without reporting the incident.
8:29 p.m. - A deputy assisted the Union County Sheriff's Office with an attempt to locate a suicidal person who was thought to be in Clay County. After some investigation, it was determined that the person was likely in Union County.
