MONDAY, JAN. 7
2:01 p.m. - A deputy responded to a medical emergency at a rural residence after a report that a man fell from a ladder.
3:35 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding in Vermillion.
6:07 p.m. - A deputy assisted Vermillion Police officers with an investigation of a shoplifting complaint where the offender had active warrants.
8:22 p.m. - A wanted person was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail.
8:32 p.m. - A deputy and a Highway Patrol Trooper responded to a report of an intoxicated person walking into a rural residence. The intoxicated woman was arrested for DWI after it was learned she had been involved in a minor accident at the residence.
TUESDAY, JAN. 8
10:52 a.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical clinic and then was returned to the jail after the appointment.
12:42 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.
2:53 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a dental appointment and then was returned to the jail.
4:11 p.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.
4:27 p.m. - A deputy responded along with Vermillion Police officers to a medical emergency in Vermillion.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 9
8:20 a.m. - A deputy observed a dog at large in Irene and recognized the dog from previous reports. Contact was made with the dog's owner who was cited for the dog at large violation.
2:35 p.m. - Five inmates were transported to the Sioux County Jail in Orange City, Iowa to be housed there due to crowding in the Clay County Jail.
5:57 p.m. - A caller reported concerns about dogs running loose and in traffic in the Timber Road area near Clay County Park. Contact was made with the owners of the dogs to inform them of the concerns.
6:26 p.m. - Three inmates were transported to the Thurston County Jail in Pender, Nebraska to be housed there due to crowding in the Clay County Jail.
9:01 p.m. - A wanted person was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail after being arrested there for a probation violation and an arrest warrant.
THURSDAY, JAN. 10
6:34 p.m. - A deputy responded to a car/deer crash on University Road near Vermillion.
6:40 p.m. - Deputies responded to a 911 call from a rural residence. There was no emergency and it was determined to be a malfunction in the telephone line.
8:12 p.m. - A deputy was informed that a woman came into the Sheriff's Office to bond another person out of jail and the dispatcher discovered that she was wanted for a Minnehaha County arrest warrant. The woman was arrested and booked into the jail.
FRIDAY, JAN. 11
10:24 a.m. - An Irene resident reported concerns about a neighbor's dog not receiving proper care. A deputy checked on the dog and spoke with its owner. It was found that the dog is healthy and receiving proper care. The dog's owner welcomed deputies to check on the dog at any time.
6:21 p.m. - Deputies responded to a rural residence after a caller reported people were outside the residence and watching him from nearby. Deputies found no one in the area but provided patrol of the area to ensure no one was there.
SATURDAY, JAN. 12
1:27 p.m. - Deputies assisted with a death investigation in Vermillion. The death was determined to be of natural causes.
2:48 p.m. - A rural resident called to report concern that a neighbor was shooting firearms and it was disturbing her horses. A deputy made contact with the neighbor and learned that he was shooting in a safe direction. He was on his own property and was not violating any laws but was informed of his neighbor's concern.
11:26 p.m. - A caller reported that a pedestrian on University Road was hard to see in the dark. A deputy responded and informed the man of the concern.
