Sunday, October 17

12:04 a.m. - Vermillion Officers were waved down at a local business for a report of a possible theft. Officers located and detained one subject. Charges are pending.

1:19 a.m. - Officers received information of an assault that occurred in the downtown district. The case is under investigation.

2:12 a.m. - An officer stopped a subject who was moving a traffic cone without authorization in the downtown district. The officer identified the subject as under the age of 21, intoxicated, in possession of alcohol and with an active arrest warrant out of another county. The subject was arrested, charges are pending.

4:29 p.m. - Officers responded to a report of domestic disturbance. Officers located and spoke with the couple. Officers investigation found no criminal activity.

6:38 p.m. - Officers found a subject who has a warrant out of Clay County for domestic violence assault and resisting arrest. The subject was arrested.

Monday, October 18

10:48 a.m. - Officers received information on drug related activity. The case is under investigation.

1:28 p.m. - Vermillion Officers assisted Probation with a search of a subject on supervision. The subject admitted to consuming illegal drugs and alcohol. The subject was taken into custody. Charges are pending.

5:21 p.m. - Officers responded to a non-injury single vehicle accident. Officers found a driver lost control of the vehicle which struck a tree and stopped against a neighbors home. No injuries reported.

6:22 p.m. - Officers received a report of a dispute between persons. Officers discovered a protection order was in place. The case is under investigation.

Tuesday, October 19

8:14 a.m. - Officers responded to a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with the parties involved and found no crimes had been committed.

5:25 p.m. - Officers responded to a reported vehicle hit and run with property damage. Officer's located the suspect vehicle and driver. Charges are pending.

Wednesday, October 20

2:37 p.m. - Officers responded to check the welfare of a person who had not shown up to work. The subject was deceased. No foul play is suspected.

8:02 p.m. - Officers responded to check the welfare of a subject who was reportedly depressed. An officer spoke to the subject who wanted to have a plan for a prolonged bus trip in case his depression got worse. Together they came up with a plan if that occurred.

Thursday, October 21

12:30 a.m. - Officers investigated a report of suspicious activity near a residence.

11:31 a.m. - School Resource Officers investigated a report of possible illegal drug activity at a Vermillion area school. No arrests were made.

4:37 p.m. - Officers received a report of a missing person. As officers were attempting to locate the person the reporting party called back and notified officers they had located the person who was missing.

5:23 p.m. - Vermillion Officers responded to a two vehicle car crash with injuries. Officers investigation found one driver failed to yield the right of way to another driver. One driver was arrested and charged with DUI. Charges are pending.

Friday, October 22

12:30 a.m. - The department received a report of a possible sex crime. Detectives are investigating.

12:44 a.m. - Officers encountered an intoxicated male carrying stolen property while walking down a sidewalk. The male fled from officers, stumbled, and fell. Thereby foiling his own escape attempt. Officers took the male into custody and placed him under arrest for numerous charges.

Saturday, October 23

2:46 a.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for doing 35 mph in a 25 mph zone. The driver was intoxicated and was arrested for DUI.
