12:52 a.m. - A vehicle was stopped on Highway 50 and the driver was informed of a non-functioning headlight.

1:5p.m. - A person was transported from the hospital in Vermillion to a detox facility in Yankton.

MONDAY, MAY 24

12:33 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a car striking a turkey on Highway 19.

6:15 p.m. - A patient was transported from the hospital in Vermillion to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.

8:00 p.m. - Deputies responded to mediate a verbal dispute at a Wakonda residence. One person was eventually taken into protective custody for a mental health evaluation. The hold was later released without a committal.

8:30 p.m. - A deputy responded to mediate a report of a domestic dispute at a rural residence. There was no reported assault involved.

TUESDAY, MAY 25

9:47 a.m. - A deputy transported a patient from a detox facility in Yankton to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.

10:33 a.m. - An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.

11:19 a.m. - A caller reported an online scam regarding his EBay account being hacked and fraudulent charges made against his account. Most charges were credited back to his account.

1:14 p.m. - An inmate being held for Clay County in the Union County Jail was transported from the Union County Jail to a medical clinic in Vermillion for an appointment. He was then held in the Clay County Jail to await test results.

1:31 p.m. - The School Resource Officer investigated a report of students vaping during the previous weekend.

1:48 p.m. - A woman being held in protective custody was transported from the jail to her home after an evaluation determined that a committal was not necessary.

3:32 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a dispute involving the repossession of a tractor at a rural residence.

8:38 p.m. - A deputy assisted jail staff with a search of the jail cells after an inmate reported another had been sharpening an item into a "shank". No such item was located.

10:10 p.m. - A caller reported seeing a suspicious vehicle leaving a rural property where recent burglaries had taken place. The caller spoke to the occupant of the vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

10:34 p.m. - A patient who had been transported by ambulance from Wakonda to Viborg was transported back to her home by a deputy after no other alternative was found.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 26

3:23 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment.

9:48 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report from a rural resident who believed that another person was storing stolen property on his property. The property was collected and investigation is ongoing.

THURSDAY, MAY 27

5:58 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a theft of a catalytic converter in Irene.

8:01 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the Union County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

8:11 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a car striking a raccoon the previous night, causing damage to the vehicle.

4:08 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of parking violations around an Irene residence. One vehicle was ticketed. Later, it was observed that all offending vehicles had been moved.

5:52 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a medical emergency at a Vermillion residence.

7:14 p.m. - A deputy received a report from an Irene resident who had concerns that his neighbor had driven on his yard. The neighbor was contacted and was asked not to drive in that area.

8:18 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a young boy leaving a Wakonda residence without permission. The boy was found safe and sleeping in a vehicle parked at the residence.

FRIDAY, MAY 28

8:05 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to an inpatient treatment facility in Canton.

10:46 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to the state penitentiary in Sioux Falls to begin his prison sentence.

7:31 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped on Highway 19 and the driver was informed of a non-functioning brake light.

11:39 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on 306th St.
