SUNDAY, DEC. 23
12:54 a.m. - Caller reported her purse was stolen from a local restaurant. Investigation identified the thief. The purse was recovered and returned to the caller. Charges were referred to the State's Attorney Office.
7:26 a.m. - Caller reported a woman who appeared intoxicated in the parking lot at the caller's businesses was concerned she was going to try to drive. Officers contacted the woman who was impaired. The woman's daughter came and got her.
1:27 p.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for running a stop sign. The driver was suspended. The driver was cited.
3:30 p.m. - Officers assisted in the Clay County Jail with a subject who was threatening to hurt himself. The man did not harm himself.
4:31 p.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration and cited the driver.
4:52 p.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for doing 51 mph in a 35 mph zone. The driver was cited.
7:05 p.m. - A local business reported a man passing counterfeit money. Under investigation.
9:58 p.m. - Caller reported fighting noises coming from a neighboring residence. Investigation resulted in the arrest of a man for multiple domestic violence related charges.
MONDAY, DEC. 24
TUESDAY, DEC. 25
12:12 a.m. - Caller reported a vehicle struck a light pole leaving the business parking lot and left the area. Officers located the vehicle and the driver was cited for hit and run.
11:16 p.m. - Sioux Falls Police requested assistance locating a runaway in Vermillion. Officers located the youth and he was returned to his parent in Sioux Falls.
WEDNESDAY, DEC. 26
11:32 a.m. - Complainant reported ongoing harassment and threats from a former friend. Under investigation.
12:26 p.m. - Caller requested officer check on the welfare of a man who may be suicidal. The man denied being suicidal but wanted to speak with someone. Officers transported the man to a medical facility.
1:27 p.m. - A business asked for officers to check the welfare of a woman who had gotten upset while in the business and was now sitting outside in a car. The officer attempted to contact the woman and determined she was not responsive and appeared to be suffering from some type of medical problem. The officer called for an ambulance and forced entry into the vehicle. He provide medical care until the ambulance arrived.
10:24 p.m. - An officer witnessed a vehicle driving erratically. The driver was intoxicated and was arrested for DWI.
THURSDAY, DEC. 27
FRIDAY, DEC. 28
10:29 p.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for an out head light. The driver had a warrant for his arrest out of Lincoln County. The officer also found marijuana and associated paraphernalia in the vehicle. The driver was arrested.
SATURDAY, DEC. 29
2:27 a.m. - Officers responded to check the welfare of a woman who had sent a Domestic Violence warning to a friend via a phone app. Officers found the woman's husband had assaulted her and interfered with an emergency communication. When officers were arresting the man he resisted arrest injuring one of the officers. The man was charged with several offenses.
2:44 a.m. - Officers responded to multiple hit and run accidents. The suspect vehicle was found, but an investigation continues to positively identify the driver.
4:15 p.m. - Caller requested a welfare check on a young man had made statements on social media about harming himself. Officers spoke with the man at length. The man stated he did not plan on hurting himself. The officer provided resources the man could use.
7:11 p.m. - Caller reported he had gotten cash back while conducting business at a local store. He had forgotten he get the cash and someone else took the money. Video surveillance identified the suspect who was cited for Theft and the money was recovered.
8:16 p.m. - Officers investigated a one vehicle accident where the car had lost control and struck a stop sign. No one was injured.
