Sunday, November 7

5:36 a.m. - A deputy responded to a one car rollover crash on 306th St. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana and the passenger was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

10:37 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a break in of an outbuilding at a rural residence.

1:58 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on Main Street in Irene.

7:12 p.m. - A deputy responded to assist a Vermillion police officer at the scene of a domestic dispute at a Vermillion residence.

10:43 p.m. - A deputy took custody of a juvenile in Vermillion who had been involved with a vehicle theft from Yankton. The juvenile was transported and turned over to the custody of a Yankton County deputy.

Monday, November 8

7:04 a.m. - Two inmates were transported from the Union County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

10:51 a.m. - An inmate was transported from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

12:29 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of damage to a vehicle parked at a Meckling residence.

1:15 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the jail to a dentist appointment.

3:46 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report from a woman who felt someone stole gas from her vehicle while parked at a rural business. This was based on her estimate of fuel consumption and how much gas should have been in the car. Later, the woman reported she was mistaken and there was no theft.

4:09 p.m. - Three inmates were transported from the Clay County Jail to the Union County Jail.

4:16 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a theft of mail from a rural residence mailbox. The suspect was a former resident. There was no indication found that the former tenant had stolen any mail.

5:45 p.m. - A deputy responded along with a Turner County Deputy and a Highway Patrol Trooper to a report of an injury accident on Highway 46.

Tuesday, November 9

8:35 a.m. - Three inmates were transported from the Union County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

8:37 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a vehicle left in a rural road ditch after a rollover crash. The driver had not reported the crash. Effort was made to determine that the driver was not injured and still in the area and the driver was not found. He was later located. Charges are pending.

9:01 a.m. - Deputies responded to a serious two vehicle crash resulting in fatal injuries to one driver north of Vermillion on Highway 19.

11:02 a.m. - A deputy responded to mediate a family dispute at a Wakonda residence.

4:29 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Charles Mix County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

Wednesday, November 10

11:58 a.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle left parked on the street in Irene for several days. A parking ticket was issued and after 2 more days, the car was towed away.

4:17 p.m. - Five inmates were transported from the Clay County Jail to the Union County Jail and two inmates were transported from the Union County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

8:24 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a medical emergency at a rural residence.

9:31 p.m. - A deputy assisted a Vermillion police officer with a welfare check of a Vermillion man who had made statements that concerned others regarding self harm. The man was located and was safe.

Thursday, November 11

9:01 a.m. - The School Resource Officer investigated a report of a habitually truant student. The student was located at a rural residence and the student and parents said he had been sick.

9:09 a.m. - A deputy assisted Vermillion police officers with a death investigation at a Vermillion residence. The death was determined to have been a suicide.

9:24 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a damaged mailbox on a rural road south of Wakonda.

11:24 a.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a theft of 4 brand new tires for an irrigation unit near Volin.

Friday, November 12

10:54 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of an unoccupied vehicle on Highway 46, parked with its doors open. The vehicle was found but it appeared it had a mechanical issue and no other problem was observed.

Saturday, November 13

10:12 a.m. - A deputy responded along with EMS to a medical emergency at a rural residence.

2:05 p.m. - An inmate claiming to be COVID Positive and feeling sick was transported to the Emergency Room. After testing, it was found that the inmate did not have COVID or any other diagnosed illness and was returned to the jail.

5:40 p.m. - A deputy assisted Vermillion police officers with a report of an intoxicated woman who had fallen while downtown and had cut her head. The woman declined medical attention.

5:50 p.m. - A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on Main Street in Irene.

6:11 p.m. - A deputy responded to a medical emergency at an Irene residence.

6:18 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a vehicle leaving University Road and striking a sign and a mailbox. The driver left the scene, leaving his bumper and license plate behind. The vehicle is registered to a man on probation. Charges are pending.

6:44 p.m. - A deputy responded to investigate a car/deer crash on 302nd Street east of Wakonda.

7:29 p.m. - A deputy responded to a report of a stolen stop sign west of Wakonda.

7:38 p.m. - A deputy investigated a report of a highway sign that appeared to have been deliberately driven over on 302nd St in Wakonda.

7:48 p.m. - A deputy observed and investigated a damaged mailbox and highway sign on 452nd Avenue (Till St.) in Irene.
