Lois Helen Christine Edstrom Boline Anderson, age 94, of St. Paul, MN and former long-time resident of Vermillion, died on Thursday, December 3 after a long illness. Lois is preceded in death by her parents The Rev. Arthur and Ellen (Edlund) Edstrom, husbands Elwood Faulk Boline and The Rev. Donald Anderson, three brothers Carl, Paul, and David and their spouses, and a step-grandson.
Lois is survived by her children: Barbara Speakman of Eagan, Patricia (Gary) Hafvenstein of Minneapolis, The Rev. James Boline (Christopher Ma) of Los Angeles, stepchildren Janet (Harold) Carter of Clinton Township, MI and Paul (Synneva) Anderson of River Falls, WI, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Born June 28, 1926 in Jamestown, New York, Lois grew up in a Lutheran pastor’s family. She graduated from Vermillion (SD) High School and attended Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN. She was married to Elwood Boline on December 28, 1946 and they lived in the Dalesburg community until moving to Vermillion in 1962. Lois worked as a licensed practical nurse at Dakota Hospital and as a medical receptionist at the Medical Arts Clinic and Green Chiropractic Clinic in Vermillion before moving to the Twin Cities after Elwood’s death in 1983. She was remarried in 1988 to The Rev. Donald Anderson of St. James, MN until his death in 2009.
At the heart of Lois’ being was a living and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. While a resident of Vermillion, Lois and family were members of Dalesburg and Trinity Lutheran Churches. Her family wishes to thank the loving community of Pillars of Highland Park and the compassionate staff of St. Therese at St. Odilia’s, Shoreview MN and Fairview Hospice for their care in Lois’ transitional weeks of life on earth.
A memorial service is being planned for June 28, 2021, with interment at Dalesburg Lutheran Cemetery, Vermillion. Memorials may be given to the United Mission to Nepal (www.umn.org.np) or World Mission Prayer League (www.wmpl.org).
