Lola Halverson

Lola Alice Halverson, 88, of Vermillion, South Dakota passed away peacefully on Aug. 10, 2019 at Sanford Vermillion Care Center surrounded by family.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kober Funeral Home in Vermillion, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019 at 10 a.m. with family present an hour before at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion, South Dakota with Pastor Erik Olson officiating. Burial will be in Gayville Cemetery in Gayville, South Dakota.

Lola was born to Ernest and Della (Burrsel) Armstrong on June 24, 1931 in Vermillion, South Dakota.

She attended grade school in Vermillion then went on to work at the University of South Dakota as a custodian before retiring.

Lola married Walter Halverson on Aug. 2, 1955. To this union brought six children and two step children. Throughout her life she enjoyed playing bingo, camping, and the Annual Fourth of July celebrations. Lola also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and her time at the care center with all the friends she made.

She is survived by Ernest (Lois) Halverson, Jane (Scott) Hanson, and Linda (Brad) Swee, all of Vermillion; Jeanette (Joe) Bare of Trinity, North Carolina; Violet (Ken) Zoss of Vermillion; 10 grandchildren, Craig (Vicky) Halverson of Sioux Falls, Todd (Tracey) Halverson of Vermillion, Trisha (Mike) Rasmussen of Elk Point, Heather Campbell of Elk Point, Jamie Hanson of Vermillion, Tim (Alexia) Halverson of Velm, Washington, Kristina (Jerry) King of San Antonio, Texas, Wendy (Kevin) Arlstine of Dell Rapids, Brendis (Becky) Bennett of Elk Point, Shelly (Tom) Shoestag of Trinity, North Carolina, and 32 great-grandchildren.

Lola is preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents, Ernest and Della; a daughter, Ruthann Kyte; sons, Walter and Ronald Halverson; three sisters, Susie Armstrong, Flora Jurgenson, and Ema Chamberlain; four brothers, Buster Armstrong, John Armstrong, Abe Armstrong, and Clarence Armstrong; four grandchildren, Cally Jo, Lane, Amy and Laura; and one great-grandchild, Sydney.
