Anthony Edelen

Anthony Edelen, age 44, of Vermillion, SD passed away unexpectedly following a biking trip to Moab, UT with his brother on November 13, 2021. He was born in Vermillion, SD during a blizzard, at home, on November 9, 1977 into the arms of his Grandmother, Dr. Marjorie H. Beaty.

He graduated from Vermillion High School in 1996 where he ran Cross Country. He then attended Northwest Missouri State University and the Provincial Hogeschol of Limburg in Hasselt, Belgium. He received a degree in International Business with a minor in International Relations.

Anthony has always had a knack for being in business. In high school Anthony started a tree-trimming business when Vermillion got hit by a massive windstorm. Once he graduated from VHS and went to Northwest Missouri State, he started a company called Miracle Detail, which was a small auto detailing business that catered to students and professors.

After graduating, he immediately moved to Aspen, CO where he began working at The Gap. He then started the Carpet Cleaning Company of Aspen and two other small businesses. After 5 1/2 years in Aspen, Anthony moved back to Vermillion. He then was able to purchase Louie’s Carpet Cleaning, a business in operation in Vermillion since 1966.

Anthony’s greatest love of his life was his family. He cherished every moment with his wife, Lisha, of 14 years, and their two children, Oscar, age 11, and Stella, age 8. His greatest memories were experiencing the world and enjoying his love for travel with his family.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Lisha, and their children, Oscar and Stella, his sister, Audra, of Vermillion and his younger brother, Jarrod, his wife, Amber, and their children Archer, Charlie, Ben and Lila of Sioux Falls. He is also survived by his parents Joe and Mary Edelen of Vermillion; Lisha’s parents, Randy and Jill VonEhwegen of Vermillion; his sister-in-law, Jennifer, of Sergeant Bluff, IA, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held at the United Church of Christ, Congregational, 226 E. Main St. in Vermillion on Sunday, November 21, 2021 beginning at 4-6 pm with visitation, the memorial service at 6 pm which will be followed by coffee and cookies. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Vermillion Rotary Club, the Vermillion Public School Foundation or the LAF program at the United Church of Christ, Congregational.
