VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota senior outside hitter Elizabeth Loschen has been named one of the recipients of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches 4 Coaches Scholarship honorees, the AVCA announced on Thursday.
Selected from the largest pool of candidates the AVCA has ever received for this scholarship, now in its 11th year, Loschen is one of just 14 honorees from around the country who will be able to attend the AVCA Convention free of charge.
"I'm extremely grateful to receive the AVCA Coaches 4 Coaches Scholarship!," said Loschen. "I'm looking forward to getting the opportunity to acquire the skills and knowledge I need to be a great coach and leader through networking, attending events, and learning from some of the greatest minds within the sport of volleyball!
"The AVCA Annual Convention is a great time to celebrate the sport of volleyball and every aspect within it."
The AVCA Convention takes place annually at the NCAA Division I Final Four, this year set for Dec. 19-21 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa.
"I am really excited that Elizabeth was chosen for the Coaches 4 Coaches scholarship," coach Leanne Williamson said. "Elizabeth has been a big part of our program the past four years, and I was excited to hear that she was really interested in learning more about the coaching profession.
"The convention will provide her valuable insights into coaching, allow her to network with the large group of coaches that attend each year, and be a part of the final four experience. This is quite the honor to receive this scholarship, and I am glad it is going to someone so deserving of the experience!"
